But if you stay on the trail, there's a better chance of running into other people.

    I'm sorry I can't help myself lol

i like daniel kaluuya, but even his awesomeness couldn't make that episode more interesting. shrug. i realize that roomba with a steak knife meme is in regards to S4 but it'd work for S1 E2/E3 too lol

Watching Creep and I'm only at "tubbie time" and I realized it would be super awkward to explain what is going on / what I'm doing if someone were to walk into my apartment right now

The Ritual was great! I want that shot with the Norse god in front of the burning barn framed in my room

Black Mirror just hasn't aged that well. I like it quite a bit, but it "hit harder" in 2011-12 when it first aired than it does now. Also, I kind of feel like they just rethread some of the same ideas in newer episodes.

Okay at the big finale (last 15 minutes) but there is SO MUCH WRONG already.

    - Aaron sleeps with his bedroom door open, which faces his glass house door, which has no fucking curtain. So when sleeping in such a way, anyone at your front door can you. CREEPY.

    - gets up and turns on all the lights so he can't see OUT but someone could see IN. Dumb.

    - "let it be known I have a knife" lololololol that was great.

    - what House set up is this that he leaves his room to the left and can circle back into his room from another entrance without passing the first one? Wild architecture. And his bedroom is off of the kitchen? Seems weird.

    - apparently his door wasn't locked because he never unlocks it before opening. Defeats the purpose of the lock he added in the last scene.

    Just finished The Ritual.....

2018 the bar has been set. Jfc what a film. That first night they spent in the woods when Phil wakes up naked praying to that creepy statue was so unsettling. Also all the hallucinations of the liquor store that kept coming were very well used.

The Ritual was a great movie for the first two acts, kind of fell of the rails for me in the third act but it didn't ruin the movie.

Has anyone watched the remastered version of The Silence of the Lambs? I was wondering if the difference was great enough to warrant seeking out that version.

The Ritual was realllllllll good. pretty much anything dealing with the woods is a win for me, so right off the bat i knew i'd enjoy it on some level.

the guy with glasses (Tom? Dom?) reminded me at times of like a young crazy John Hammond from Jurassic Park for some reason :crylaugh:and the liquor store scene surprised the fuck out of me. definitely adding this book to my "must read" list, and probably bumping it way ahead of other things to get to it.

i'm not sold on the third act, i liked it but will need time to think about it - although i definitely enjoyed the first two acts more.

i felt like Tom/Dom's death was super anticlimactic. he just gets pushed onto the tree and bam, that's it and when Luke is face to face with the thing when it bends down to look into the house i feel like he should've / could've shot it right then and there and not from 50 fucking yards away, but maybe nerves or a general sense of "what the fuck" took him out of the moment

If you read the book make sure to post about how you feel about the big change they made. May make a better third act for you.

As far as your spoiler goes, I love how terrible of a protagonist he is for the most part. He's always being a "coward" and running and hiding, even bowing before the norse god for a few moments. He's also not very capable, like running straight into a tree. With all that considered I feel like it's totally in character for him to make a weird ass shot like that, haha.

i agree - his character was well designed from start to finish. i almost wonder if him shooting the creature/god was because it was holding the girl or because he was actually trying to kill it / both. like, if it didn't have the girl would he have kept running, or would he have turned to shoot it? and does the fact that he stops and shoots at all show that he's grown and not a coward?

also, i lOVED the witch punch

some great one-liners / moments in the film too. surprised at the number of laughs (in a good way) the movie gave while still being so bleak and dark. definitely made the characters and their relationships feel real and genuine. hard to do in any movie, let alone a horror film.

I thought the exact same thing! I think it's a mixture of both. Obviously he was doing it to prove he wasn't a coward, but I don't think that he would have shot it without the girl being there, even though he probably knew there was no way of saving her. It's just like how in the gas station, he wouldn't be expected to attack those two guys if his friend hadn't been in danger. I think he knew how pointless it was too, but that didn't stop him
And yes, your other spoiler was perfect. I cheered so loud, ha.

    Doing fine. Prestigious

I preferred one departure, disliked another. the liquor store murder was more eventful for the film, but ultimately left Phil and Hutch underdeveloped. I thought the simplicity in the motives for the hike in book actually gave a the relationships of the four much more substance. But books are always better at that I suppose.
I actually preferred the third act of the film more than the book. it seemed more logical for there to still be a tribe of people out there over just three random metal heads. I was bummed the old lady didn’t end up being a fawn or whatever she was tho
