Are there any other “surprises” along the lines of “Belong,” or is that literally an outlier in an otherwise classic sounding DC record?

(I do love “Belong” though personally)

 

Depends what you mean by “surprise.”

 

"Belong" was a surprise to me as it's sonically nothing like they've done before. Is that the only track that would significantly stand out from the rest of their discography like that?

If that's the only 'electronic' based song then I'm interested in how that works sequence-wise on a 9 track album.

 

I wouldn’t say it’s the only one based on that.

I'm nervous about the album but I'm excited to see how it sits when its all said and done.

 

They just posted a clip of "Catch You" on Instagram, and I immediately knew I had heard it before. Does anyone remember.. around the time of the last record I believe, they put out an acoustic demo called "A Guardian of Sorts (To Catch You)." Same song! Still have the download on my computer. Wonder how much they changed, aside from it being a full band arrangement

 

Wow yeah I have that demo also. That kinda makes me bummed, album is only 9 tracks and one of them they released 9 years ago and the other they released for free last year.

Agreed, but I’m just glad to have some new studio stuff finally. And I totally forgot about that demo. I remember listening to it a lot.. the clip sounds sick. Got me even more exited for this!!

 

Yea it seems there will be at least two songs I really like ha. @Jason Tate was this one or the ones you really liked?

It's fine. The chorus gets very annoying.

 

Sad that I'm just meh on this album. After such a long wait, I was really hoping for a great one. It's just fine, I guess.

 

Same here. Especially by the way he kept referencing older Dashboard stuff during the writing process.

After seeing some mixed opinions of this album, I could go for another Alter The Ending type album.

 

I think this is probably his best song of the past few years:

 

That Twin Forks album is sooo good. "Plans" is def my favorite
