    Ok. For me
Green Day seem to always have albums full of filler. Besides American Idiot

And there’s always been something about the harmonies with the sound of the guitars in that’s Finn production that makes me all warm and gooey inside that I’ve never got with GD

That sounds well thought out lol. Do you ever have people who don't know this is your site try to fight you or report you? I imagine that's good for a laugh.

I remember about five or so years ago, I got mugged. I told my housemate not to call the cops, but they did anyway. They came to the hospital with me, at which point the police began interrogating me about what I was doing out at that time of night (9pm), then said if I wasn’t honest, I could end up in jail. So, I told them that I didn’t even want to speak with the cops to begin with. They asked why and I said I’d never met a good cop in my life, which then lead to another round of threatening me with jail. Subsequently, after I told them my story another time, they left and I signed myself out of the hospital. It really solidified to me that calling the police makes things worse.

Then, there was the time that the cop pulled a gun out on me after I reached for the ID he asked me for. And then there was the time I was walking to work and plain clothes cops jumped out on me, pushed me against the wall and asked me for my ID because I matched a description. Then there was the time that I was stopped again on my way to work because, according to the cops, looking at the ground as I walked was suspicious. They patted me down, ran my name, then gave me some paperwork for why they stopped me.

If I offended anyone earlier with my naiveness I apologize. I’m a genuinely ‘let’s all get along’ type of person and I sometimes let that cloud my mind. Hope I didn’t rub anyone the wrong way

To be fair, if you are on a horse and it is high...it’s probably a good idea to get off of it.

Who knows what kind of trouble a stoned horse can get up to.

    Don’t apologise to anyone
You have these johnny come latelys popping in from nowhere to spew their hate in generally fun escapist thread

I left this as a direct response to him. Don't know if it did any good but I hope that when he looks back at the situation outside of the mindset of feeling attacked he gains some perspective.

Music isn’t escapist when the musicians are literally making pro-cop statements lol

Honestly, ever since that happened, I’ve stopped listening to music while I’m walking in the city. I’m too paranoid that I won’t hear a command from a cop and that’ll be it for me. Like you said, it’s fucking terrifying.

I can also tell you from experience working in local govt, and this will come as no surprise to those who follow along with cases involving cops, but 99.9% of cases where a complaint is made against a cop, internal affairs takes a week to review the citation, body cam footage if it wasn’t “lost” or “overwritten,” and the incident/court report prepared by the cop and then says the cop followed procedure and dismisses the internal investigation. Following procedure is a whole other issue. But, IA will never find wrong doing by a cop.

Any cop that comes forward against their partner or another cop and reports a case of wrongdoing to their direct commander or sergeant with a complaint is seen as not being a “team player,” is put on another shift with another partner or slowly shifted to admin desk duty for an extended period of time.

Because the integrity, for a lack of a better word, flows up through that cop, to their sergeant, to the captain, to the chief of police, who is typically reports directly to the mayor or city manager, those higher ups and electeds also have an interest in brushing off or dismissing those internal investigations.

So even when we say that the basic function of the police isn’t overtly racist or oppressive and that good cops exist within the institution, the policies, procedures, reporting structures, and accountable outside and internal agencies that exist within and outside of the institution of policy all work in tandem to protect the bastard cops and either make the “good” cops, or better those with not overtly evil and oppressive intentions, ineffective or drive them out. Good cops cannot exist within the system for any extended period of time.

And that’s why we say phrases like the “institution” of police and “systemic” oppression and racism. Because these aspects of policing are greater than any individual person that exists within the system.

You know what maybe it’s a systemic failure of the United States system. But in the UK the police here a generally pretty good guys and girls who like their work, my best mate is one and is great fella who cares about his work.
Not having guns perhaps is a way that everyone’s not so fucking terrified of each other. But that’s a different can of worms

Man, Blink 182 is so unimportant compared to the systematic targeting of marginalized groups. Like, it wouldn't matter what thread or what band it was. This discussion outweighs music talk always. 100%.

These conversations are important. I know it can be uncomfortable for some people to see arguments happen but they’re necessary. One user just had their eyes opened a little bit by listening. If a few people notice the problems in the world every time these conversations occur, it’s a good thing. That’s why I’m against the whole “ah let’s talk about something else” thing

Well you know what’s more important than blink-182. The deforestation of rainforest and animals habitats for palm oil. So I better bring that up to. Here’s a link to inform all
