I used to get really upset when people shit on cops because I, too, have a close family member who was a cop for a while in a bigger city away from our hometown. I didn't get when people said "all cops are bastards" or whatever because I didn't understand that it's not attacking that person's entire personality, it's that person choosing to work inside of a system that is inherently fucked and disgusting and really shitty towards marginalized people. That is being complacent. It's hard to fight this stuff sometimes, but it certainly makes it a lot fucking harder when you're involved directly and benefit from the people actively doing it.

But I understand that now. My family member quickly realized that, quit being a cop and now just works security gigs at clubs and stuff like that. He was not happy being a part of that, it disgusted him, so instead of sticking around and putting up some bullshit blue wall in the name of "not all cops", he left. Also since all of this I have personally seen cops abuse, detain and hurt some close friends of mine. I have been wrongfully detained by a police officer, yelled at and roughed up for standing next to someone being arrested and asking what was wrong. Cops lied to me and my friends, refused to give us their names/badge numbers and called us ***gots. And this doesn't even slightly compare to what people of color have to deal with in larger cities.

Cops can go fuck themselves. Very, very disappointed Matt would wear such a tasteless fucking shirt.

My dad is actually a mass murderer, with a body count in the 1000's. They're making a movie about him, but it cuts out a lot of his stealing babies from hospitals and swapping them with other babies in different states, just to add confusion into the lives of the parents and children. Anyway, because of that I think murder and chaos are good, and they can't be even criticized, I will shut down any thought that mass murder, or abducting and switching places of multiple newborns for no reason, are bad. They're good. That's my dad you're talking about.

Shout out to all the people who were annoyed to have to confront racism in the blink-182 thread of a music website. Cool that you don’t have to deal with that shit every day of your life so when someone criticizes a musician you like or an institution you respect that it bums you out a little. Fuck Skiba, fuck Travis, and fuck Mark. I don’t say that lightly because this band changed who I am and Mark especially influenced my life in so many important ways growing up. But some things matter more than how much I like a band and there’s no reason for me to support them right now. They’re white liberals comfortable speaking out about Trump but who won’t risk their comfort to advocate further. Until Skiba or Mark comes out with tangible support of Black Lives Matter, any words they have are empty to me. And that sucks.

I don't really follow Blink much, so correct me if I'm wrong, but this Skiba character is white right? And only lived in affluent areas of the city which is heavily segregated? Is that accurate?

 

Didn’t mean to ignore just trying to keep up. Because killing people is all people associate with cops which yeah there have been so many unjustified violent acts cops have committed anyone who doesn’t think that is an idiot but to think that’s all being a cop is about is silly.
