are we still lucky to be here? Prestigious

Nothing in that post was serious other than the comment about the potential Code Orange tour. If you couldn't tell based on the unnecessary hyperbolic language I used, I don't know what to tell you.

It's likely new music as a part of the Adult Swim Singles series. They were announced to be a part of it back in July and haven't released their track yet.

Part of me is hoping it’s both the track for adult swim and a tour.

This tour is going to really piss off death metal purists, and I can't wait.

i know more about this situation than you do i'm pretty sure. as of now, this is what evan is. there is a possibility of him potentially doing what he needs to rehabilitate and bring himself back into the scene but i need to see what his accountability process is and what the victim or someone close to the situation says. as of now, though, he is an abuser in the process of accountability. until we see how this resolves it's not worth thinking of him in any other way

you may or you may not know more about the situation, that's not really what concerns me here. My issue with the discussion surrounding evan, and some other similar "cases" is this idea that the music scene can put someone in a position of relative power, and as soon as they abuse that power in some way, the solution is to... cut them loose, and then what? Have him retire to some cabin in the woods and never speak to anyone again? he's clearly going to migrate to some other social group, because that's how people work. then what, who's gonna hold him accountable then? i've seen people from the local scene here get "called out", leave music and then just keep being the same person, except instead of playing in a band, they're employee #122345 at some company where no one's gonna care what they do. so you get the scene feeling better for taking charge, but at the end of the day, this is the laziest, and least effective thing you can possibly do.

so instead of working towards changing anything, these call outs just pass the buck to someone else, typically outside of music. assuming what he did truly is worse than the half assed confession he wrote, I can practically guarantee that any damage he does outside of the music scene will be ignored by absolutely everyone.

this whole thing just feels so performative when you look at it from higher up.

i'm not saying it needs to be a permanent removal from music but there needs to be a legitimate accountability process based on his own actions. not to mention that whole statement about how he's seen fans in crowds as sex objects. i think there are ways of him having genuinely rehabilitation and recovery but until we see the results of that i don't mind him being out of music entirely

That's a really cool line-up! Would be sweet seeing Skating Polly in a smaller setting like that (i.e., as opposed to Riot Fest).

that whole statement was the most performative bullshit i've ever read from a band fessing to accusations. it upset me, and actively made me stop liking pinegrove. there's gotta be accountability, but I think that ostracizing people never works, unless the person did something truly irredeemable.

i guess it would help if people know what he actually did instead of some vague "sexual coercion" and "oh i sleep with girls i meet at shows, but i shouldn't", because this whole "oh i truly know what happened, and it is B-A-D" thing devolves into scene gossip and people using their privileged knowledge of intimate solutions as a way to control a dialogue that most people barely even understand.

anyways, i hope he makes good with the people he hurt, and hopefully he's honest about learning/growing from this. but it's up to the people he surrounds himself with to help him stay accountable, not just some vague non-music scene.

i agree with most of this. i think people need to stop asking questions about this situation and allow it to naturally resolve. it isn't up to us. but i've seen posts from people close to the victim and they definitely aren't thrilled with evan being part of the scene, so that's enough to me to keep him out for now.

i think of things as a community, and obviously he's done enough to represent losing a place in that community for now.
