It may have been a failure, but I actually liked a good half of the album( which I know is a minority opinion).

But I will admit it is a mess, and there's some duds (fighting the gravity, this is home, etc.). I still enjoy it though, maybe a nostalgic of the high of having blink back idk. Maybe because it was the first blink release during me and my also blink fan fiancé being together that we could enjoy together. So it's nice that mark says he likes it even if he is being nice

 

I am surprised there hasn't been any better quality videos off Bored to Death from last night :(.

 

Was last night's set part of the live stream? There should be pro-shot videos out by now, but I haven't seen any.

 

There was no official stream, just a really bad quality phone stream on FB that lagged so much it was useless.

 

It's interesting to think how much backlash blink would get if the joke songs from the TOYPAJ era were released in 2016.

 

Regardless of the band or their history, seems a little weird to me that people are having a hard time grasping why some others might not appreciate joke songs (especially ones involving Blink's type of humor) on a record in the same way they did when they were literally 15 years younger. Or at least understand why the band writing them after said 15 years and putting them on an album doesn't come off as even slightly contrived.

Fwiw I don't really care that they exist. Not for or against them. As long as there are actual good songs on here then whatever.

There is no place for their homophobic humor in 2016. I thikk everything else would be fine.

 

Sexism and homophobic "jokes" suck more.

 

I'd be interested in how many people who loved blink between 99-02 and were between 10-16 years old actually still actively listen to Fuck a Dog, Family Reunion, Happy Holidays and 13 Miles and truly enjoythem outside of nostalgia. As they are truly truly bad songs, much like the latest two 'joke' songs.

Hell, I even remember an interview with Alkaline Trio from around that time when I remember seeing Matt chastise blink for getting young girls to take their shirts off and sing songs like that.

 

The only joke song I still listen to from them is Happy Holidays because I rarely skip songs when listening to an album. I listen to I Won't Be Home For Christmas around that time of year and I actually enjoy it. Family Reunion is fun live just for the part where everybody shouts words they typically wouldn't. Other than all that I never have any desire to listen to the joke songs, and haven't played them since I was a freshman in high school.

 

My only issue is that a joke song is the last track on the album.

 

I don't wanna play "let's list all the outrageous lyrics blink have!" but let's be honest; pretty much every album pre Untitled has songs that would have people up in arms if they were released today.

 

Again, I say: Rightfully.

 

Exactly. So why are they trying to be the blink of 1999-2001. That has been said and done. Don't want more joke songs and it's creepier coming from a dude in his mid 40's.

 

Do these new joke songs bother anyone here to the point that you're less excited for the new album?

Well yeah. I'm not condoning it or justifying it or saying that I like it. I'm just saying it's nothing new. It's all the more surprising since Mark seems like a pretty socially aware kinda guy.
