Said I'm okay, but I know how to lie.

This. I'd rather have it like it is than having the joke songs at the end of the actual songs before, like "Brohemian Rhapsody" came directly after "California" (in the same file) like on Dude Ranch.

And yeah, instrumentally I actually can enjoy this.

And I personally disagree about deleting the songs, skipping them over or changing the order.

I want to judge/appreciate the record they made and intended for us. Otherwise, I'm not really experiencing it...

Removing a couple songs I don't like from album x and then saying I love it from start to finish wouldn't be honest.

And them not including joke songs even though they like to write those wouldn't be honest either.

I can't like this hard enough. I just want an honest blink-182 album. That's something we haven't seen in 13 years.

FUCKIN SAVAGES IN THAT FUCKIN BOX Prestigious

Travis did call this a mix of Enema and Untitled which sounds like the perfect sweet spot for me. I don't think you can undermine how much Jerry Finn had to do with that record, and I think if they straight up tried to follow-up that record it would just not work. I think this record will definitely have some tones or vibes of that record, but I think that was an example of blink being pushed to their absolute best. I don't think they can top that record musically, but they can definitely make a record that is more enjoyable. Between the year it took to record that, and the start of tension between the band, it's kind of a heavy record to listen to. And it would be kind of disingenuous to try to make another, especially if to Mark and Travis it represents a time when things weren't so good with the band. And I'm saying that as someone who would take the Untitled album if you told me I could only take one blink album.

I mean to be fair the only full length shows they've played with Skiba have 6 songs from untitled.

I listened to built this pool probably 10+ times when they released it because I was driving in a car, it was late at night, and it was fun and refreshing. why compare that to their serious material, it's blink and summer's coming up; just enjoy it all.

I don't like the joke songs in the sense that those are the second and third pieces of new material we've been exposed to from the new album. I mean, they are fun but I feel like if they didn't push them out and play them live and I just came across them on the album, I would probably be more open to them. At this point though, I'm just like "give me an ACTUAL song..."

That's fine. You don't have to enjoy them. Many of us do.

    I like the joke songs.

They take up 30 seconds of your time.

  12. "Built this Pool" goofing around in the middle of the album is one thing, breaks up the album, just a fun thing tossed in, but ending the album with these lyrics is another. One, they're pretty disturbing, two, how an album ends always says a lot about the album and its cohesiveness. Enjoying horse sounds in the middle of an album, or "Happy Holidays", I don't think are comparable. And, again, the lyrics are fucked up.

I did get a laugh out of Built This Pool but I'm a little surprised Mark liked that joke enough to use it 5 years later.

The only negative thing about the joke songs are the conversations that erupt from their existence.

What are the lyrics? I couldn't make them out

  16. I think the other negative thing may be if you say one in an office you'd be fired for sexual harassment and look like a creep. Not a great look for a pop punk scene with the controversies surrounding it right now.

I like how Travis isn't shy to voice his distaste with neighborhoods.

I think mark is just too positive of a guy to admit something as a failure.

Very well put. Not enough to make me not go out and buy California or love it if it's good but I will probably skip over it, or leave it off any burned copies for road trips

I don't see where the problem in that would lie.

Yes, he's incredibly goofy and easy going. That's why it's been kind of strange for me to see him so reserved so far in interviews and even last year in the few shows they did, although that scenario makes a lot of sense. I'm hoping and looking forward to him lighting the fuck up with Mark to play off of as time goes on and he grows more comfortable with them on stage.

the ships have all sailed to the sea

I skip "Voyeur" and "Degenerate" on Dude Ranch and it's still one of my favorite Blink albums, and those are full length songs. Skipping a couple of 30 second songs doesn't bother me.

  25. They didn't wear Hurley during that era, all black Atticus clothing.
