Has it been confirmed whether or not Justin Shekoski is actually on the album?? He left before they recorded I think.

Something's making me think he's not, but I'm not positive on that either. Something like someone said they felt weird about being excited for the album because they're friends with Justin -- think it was along those lines.

I feel like it's possible he's on the album but maybe not on every song... we may never know tbh

Is that shitty Pandora stream still the only way to listen?

Wasn't Justin the primary songwriter, guitar-wise for this band?

Yeah I still wonder whatever happened between Justin and this band. Feels like it was more than just him doing stuff with The Used.

This isn't bad. But it's not insanely memorable yet, either. Anthony and the drums sound fantastic. I think I could really enjoy every song separately, but as an album it's just not as gripping.

Self-titled still remains my favorite Saosin record by a long shot, though. Oops.

Looking forward to hearing this one on Apple Music.

I think the new record is missing the saosin formula from the ST and this is more a representation of 7-8 years of of instrumentals they've had and current AG melodies. It isnt really ST or TTN but it is way better than i expected

Beau and Chris wrote pretty much all the instrumentals throughout I think.

Pretty sure Justin at least wrote some of these parts.

Yeah I'm sure he was involved. At least from what I've read before though, Beau and Chris were always the main instrumental songwriters. Justin doesn't even have a songwriting credit on ISOSG.

This is how I was feeling coming into the album, not wholly in love with The Silver String, and slightly cynical about AG's return to the band and the cash-grab it could potentially represent. But it's grabbed me far more than I expected, I pumped this shit up while cooking chicken tacos today and looped it four times afterward, something I haven't done for any album in a long time. The melodies and groove are almost subversive, I was flailing around my house like I was 16 again, waking up my parents singing along to 'Translating the Name', except this time I didn't know a single word to any of the songs. It was just sheer energy coursing through my body. Electrifying, energizing, biggest surprise of the year so far. Hopefully it holds up to repeated listening, because I'm high off of the thought of another listen (but shitty Pandora is enough to keep me away until next Friday).

Never knew he didn't have a songwriting credit before. Interesting. Would have thought he'd have some input.

Yeah most of those songs are credited to Beau, Chris, and Cove... assuming Beau and Chris wrote the instrumentals for the most part and Cove wrote the vocals.

I heard somewhere that there's an ongoing legal dispute that has prevented the band from speaking about what's going on with Justin. He was playing the early version of Illusion and Control (Riff 9) back when they first reunited for a couple of shows awhile back. So he might of had some input back then

I really think this record is going to hit so much harder in full quality, I went back and listened to the singles again on Apple Music and they just sound sooo much better

Part of me wonders this also would have had more of an impact if circa didn't do descensus which is probably their heaviest record.

One thing we know is that Justin doesn't appear on the album, but yeah, I imagine writing-wise it probably isn't as cut and dry, since we know parts of songs were definitely written at various times before Justin was kicked out.

Anyone else really like sore distress? I just wish they didn't cut the last chorus right when that really good vocal melody comes in... Also do you hear the high or low part as the main melody?
