I got the TV and bird relation, but I wasn't sure what to do with it. I'll try it later. Thanks!

I was excited for Flame in the Flood because it looked similar to Don't Starve, but when it released there weren't any news about it anywhere. I've seen some reviews, and it seems pretty decent but I also would like to know if anyone here has played it.

Night in the Woods looks so gooooood. I want to grab it but I'm also planning to buy Shadow of the Colossus next week.

Had not heard a damn thing about Celeste until this thread but you have all convinced me that it’s a must buy once I have some extra cash.

yeah that’s me. I remember a thread sharing their AM accounts, and I followed everyone. although, my current rotation is kinda embarrassing because of nostalgia.

finished chapter one with 221 deaths which is good for me. there were moments I was frustrated but overall I think the idea of learning from your mistakes and using it as a life lesson helped me keep me calm.

So guys, I'm sorry for being the perpetual holdout, but would you say that Celeste is worth it for the environments and story? Because I would turn on the accessibility features right away, I'm not the type of gamer that enjoys the incremental progression gameplay loop of these kinds of hardcore platformers. Thanks in advance.

I am not sure to be honest. I truly adore the game, but I wouldn’t want to recommend it to someone who doesn’t enjoy difficult platformers because that is a good bulk of what makes it fun.

The story is really good, but I think to really appreciate it you have to really power through the challenges because the game is also about trying and not giving up. So I can’t say if someone who doesn’t enjoy this genre will get a mileage from it that would feel worth it.

Did you listen to NVC’s latest? They talked a bit about how good assist mode is (it lets you speed down the game to give players more time to think). If anything I’d def recommend this or Shovel Knight to people who want to start getting into the genre, as compared to games like VVVVVV, Spelunky, etc.

I understand why people like the sub-genre, it's just really not for me. Thanks! I'll probably wait for a sale then.

I don't know how this happened but I've been thinking about Fire Emblem and now I'm about to die because I want one on Switch RIGHT NOW

As @zigbigwig alluded, the story is great. It probably made me more emotional than any video game I can remember, but part of that is overcoming your self doubt along with the character and the challenge is what lends gravity to the story so it might not hit as hard without the relationship between player/character sense of accomplishment.

I'd put it with Shovel Knight, games that are a fair challenge with great/endearing stories that aren't as difficult as people make them out to be but still at times p frustrating

yay, glad you love it. there are tons of other great indies to sink your teeth into when time/money allows

i'm not "that" worried about money as well as the content/time commitment is worth it. like, i'm more focused on story/exploration in games so things like shooters and farming sims aren't that worth it. also don't want to put like, 60 bucks towards a game when it's not months and months of work as well.

Thanks. Shovel Knight is another game I tried and liked but never bought because I don't like/am afraid of hard boss fights (not a huge fan of the concept of boss fights in general). I know that's a maybe a weird thing to say, especially as someone that loves Dark Souls, but it is what it is, haha.

Weird. I was thinking the same thing a few hours ago, except it started with wanting an Advance Wars (Switch Wars?) and realizing that probably won’t happen.

Also I think the upgrades is what makes Shovel Knight easier. You can farm for health if you get stuck on a level, and by the endgame you get power ups that really help you get through the platforms and bosses.

Also I’m the opposite. I’m so good at platformers but suck so badly in 3D action games like dark souls/bloodborne. That’s mainly why I’m trying to finish those games haha. It’s personal.

With me it depends, I was really good at Dark Souls (though I hated the bosses there too, bosses in general just throw me off my game), especially PVP, but I'm terrible at games like Bayonetta.

When I say Dark Souls, I mean DS1 and especially 2. Did not like 3.

I will kill for a new Advance Wars on Switch. Those first two games have a special place in my heart

At least we’re getting an Advance Wars-like game in the meantime I guess

Regarding Celeste, I’m still early on and not to be dramatic but the 1st b-side level might actually kill me.

I'd recommend playing through and going back to the B-sides haha, they are nuts
