I’ve been listening to We We’re Promised Jetpacks a decent amount as of late. I just love this guy’s accent so god damn much. Anybody know of some other Scottish or just foreign bands where their accent really shines? I know that’s somewhat of an odd request, but I listen to so much American music and there has got to be some great shit out there that I’m unaware of

 

I had my world kind of rocked after the longest and most strenuous year and 9 months of my life. The first thing that had brought me back to a good place was the SciFi experience we all had late last year. We know how that went, and it sucked for me to cut that tie. I found myself trying to find a place to settle my opinions that I hadn't realized were completely irrelevant to the real issue. Then I had a sexual abuse situation hit so close to home I found myself not eating or sleeping, and barely able to be at work. And it was then that I truly understood why and how so many are taking this as seriously as they are.

I found myself holed up in a room doing nothing but grieving. Sitting on my phone looking at all this nonsense. Just everything from people's selfies and their highlight reels on Instagram, to Snapchat nonsense and stories about the Kardashians, Trump, stupid viral videos, etc etc that I couldn't take it. I found myself asking "What the fuck am I doing?" "Why am I filling my head with this trash to distract myself from reality?" The whole situation was super unhealthy. I also wind up clashing opinions with people on here sometimes and I knew that was something I wouldn't handle well at the time. My phone didn't come with me to work, and I began talking to somebody. I haven't felt very close with anyone in a long time, and I had a split essentially on NYE from my girlfriend of roughly 3 years. She couldn't take who I am now anymore and it took a bit to understand why.

Though I don't always have a pleasant conversation on this site, the users are something that brings me back always. A lot of insight, a lot of wisdom. A true melting pot of people i've rarely seen elsewhere. Even if i'm not posting, i'm reading because I respect many people and their opinions on here. On top of that, I always find a good laugh. If you took your time to read this, thanks. Sometimes it feels good to just be heard.

 

Yeah, I said that mostly in jest. I honestly think it is very healthy to take breaks from the internet. Hope you’re feeling better man.

 

Probably not as much of an accent, but check out the Xcerts. Also the Australian accent really shines on those new Camp Cope songs.

 

Thank you. I'm going to Vegas for work in 2 weeks and it's all I've been thinking about. I've been in the gym, eating healthy, i'm not smoking as much, i'm talking about my issues and painful situations instead of running from them. It feels a little vain to say something like "i'm doing a lot better." I'll say i'm here and i'm trying very hard to live a healthier lifestyle and it feels good so far. My ex also just asked me to go to the movies tonight literally as I was typing this. Now thats what I call WEIRD Vol. 12.

 

Speaking of bands with accents, when I found out Kyle Soto was from California I was like .

 

If I want bands with accents I guess I could listen to Blink 182

Funny you bring up lipbalm, i bought some a while back. When i went to the cash register the lady behind gave me a massive 'wtf are you doing' look. Didn't realize it was colored balm, so lately i've been rocking these pink lips like you wouldn't believe.
