And there's actually a great story in Black/Almas...Almas lost to Black in Black's debut, which come Takeover: New Orleans, will be one year apart. Black rose up, Andrade refocused.

See, I think NXT is more than capable of having major matchups on a PPV that we care about, even if their not for the belt. I definitely get your point as it concerns Black specifically, because how long can you really keep that dude away from the title, but he's also had two big matches on the two most recent TakeOver's that didn't involve the title and had the crowd eating out of the palm of his hand. Good writing can make up care about other storylines with main-event caliber guys.

You probably also can't almost immediately get up from being double kneed through a table to deliver a super kick, but it's wrestling, fam

  4. Yeah Black can elevate any match with out a belt attached - you could even write into his gimmick that he doesn’t care for material things like a title belt

Ciampa-Gargano is going to be an amazing feud but attaching the belt to it turns into something truly truly special

And not that I'm suggesting NXT is getting stale or anything like that, because I think they've done a very good job of making all their major feuds stand apart in different ways, but the belt added to the Gargano/Ciampa mix supersedes even KO/Sami's feud in NXT. We've gotten to see Gargano and Ciampa's relationship first hand in NXT, whereas we never got that with KO and Sami.

PS - I'm sure that Ciampa shirt has something really stupid on the back, because WWE, but what a great design

It's a good story that is made much better by being for the belt. Without it, you need to both explain why Black is tolerating with Ciampa cutting the line for the championship while giving him a reason to fight Almas. I'm not saying it can't be done, I just feel like this direction makes more sense.

also watch me be totally wrong and we don't even get Black vs Alamas in NO :cringe:

Another reason why I support this direction: I think Gargano as the challenger vs Black as the belt holder is a better way of doing the eventual Gargano vs Black championship match.

  11. It doesn’t seem like Black really cares about the belt which makes his character even cooler

You know, it'd be super if NXT started to have Dunne actively defend the UK title so everyone could be in agreement on Ciampa and Gargano for the belt

That was my favorite NXT match

  14. Seriously tho when is Ciampa supposed to be cleared? Give me Gargano winning the belt in Orleans - Daniel Bryan lite

If the Seth Rollins timeline is accurate, he's probably just about cleared. Seth went from Nov-May, though I guess his first match wasnt til June. 7 months for Ciampa would be now...and I dont think they'd have done this if he wasnt gonna be at Orleans

He’s probably really close to being cleared, if he’s not already. Besides, with the NXT schedule he realistically doesnt need to wrestle for at least another month

What if they had some kind of angle where Ciampa screwed Johnny out of a title shot and became number one contender. Then Ciampa goes on to win the belt before Gargano

This is the only way I want the title to be involved in this feud because I don’t think it really needs it but that underdog culmination against his arch enemy would be very satisfying.

Also Aleister Black is probably main roster bound after Mania so he won’t get the belt.

Really hope they don't push Black to the main roster any time soon. As Nakamura shows, they don't know how to use characters like Black on the main roster.
