feel weird seeing a bunch of dudes discount all the great work a productive nondude journalist has done for the community with one sort of problematic tweet without even knowing who she was in the first place

 

plenty of good nondude journalists not spreading toxic takes on twitter "for dramz"

and the whole Lorde thing makes this not seem like a one off, either.

 

I don't follow journalists. I just know it's a shitty thing to say

 

also let's not forget that this is all in defense of a nondude artist so I don't see how that factors into this at all.

 

I like Maria's work, but I think it's fair to criticize where criticism is due. It's a wild take that had me laughing in disbelief.

Pretty sure Phoebe's drummer is friends with Ryan Adams, for what its worth. I would assume being very talented, working hard, and living in LA is a good combo.

 

Yeah, Marshall has played on a bunch of Adam's stuff over the years and co-hosts his podcast as well. And is obviously very close with Phoebe etc.

 

That is a very irritating take.

 

When I think of people who would be trusted to be a part of an industry scheme, I think of Mr Gives-No-Shits himself, Ryan Adams.

 

I get that it was a bad take but it's not like it was a serious accusation lol. Feel like it's being blown out of proportion? Maria is a great music writer who consistently gives music that other people throw under the bus the benefit of the doubt and does her best to spotlight marginalized groups and champion the importance of young girls in the industry. One bad joke shouldn't be enough to put someone on yr shit list

Tbh I don't know how people can keep up with music journalism and know who's who. It sounds exhausting, I barely have time to listen to the music

 

eh i barely actually know her from her articles, she just pops up in my twitter feed often from bands and i don't even follow her.

i follow music communities more than just bands themselves so you end up seeing the same names over and over

 

Haven't listened yet, might be worth checking out

 

He is a great guitarist, if you caught Phoebe touring - Harrison is the guy who tours with her playing guitar for her. Such a nice dude.

Album was also produced by Marshall Vore, I believe.

Look forward to listening to this.
