Everyone says Burn My Eyes is their best but I honestly can't get into it too much. If you wanna check em out I'd recommend The Blackening and Bloodstone & Diamonds would be my suggestions, but The More Things Change is a good starting point too. Just hard avoid their nu-metal era ha. (Burning Red and Supercharger)

The Blackening was kind of a positive turning point in my eyes.

Going down a bit of demo wormhole this morning:

"Combat Grind" by Sonic Poison - frenetic, punk-y deathgrind that reminds me a bit of later-era Napalm Death.

"2018 Demo" by Orga - black metal with some raw punk influences that reminds me a bit of current-era Darkthrone.

"Let Me Fight Where Lay..." by Battering Ram - sounds like something my dad would have been into if he grew up during the 70s as opposed to the 60s. Hard rock/speed metal hybrid ffo Motorhead.

"Crush Skull Moon" by Graven Maul - crushing death/doom hybrid ffo Coffins.

I'd probably stick with The Blackening and Unto the Locust. Bloodstone & Diamonds didn't have a lot of staying power for me, but that is probably more due to my shifting tastes at the time.

For some reason, all of the pre-release discussion from Robb about the album made me think the new album was going to be a serious step down compared to their previous material. When you post on Facebook deriding a bad review of your album from a reputable publication (albeit they tried to be comical in their panning of the album and failed, but still), that just lights something up in my brain. Gonna dive into this bad boy later today though and form my own opinion.

Slayer tickets went on sale at 10am this morning. Already sold out.

I was debating on weather or not to get tickets and now I'm kind of bummed. Maybe they'll announce a second show...

are they playing a tiny venue in your area compared to the rest of the tour?

Probably. It's a 4,000 cap venue, which is what enticed me to want to go. When they played with KSE, Lamb of God and Testament in 2013 they filled a 6000 seat venue... and when they came with Megadeth and Anthrax, they sold like 12,000 tickets so...

I expected it to sell out before the day of the show, but I figured it would take longer than an hour...

Oof. Well, there's always Stubhub. I'm sure half the tickets went to bots anyway, but I'm not sure it'd be worth paying twice face value for this one for me personally. They're playing an ampitheater in the suburbs here, and lawn tickets are $25 before fees which is about all I'd pay if I could make it.

Yeah, they're playing a club here that has a GA floor and then reserved balcony. The GA tickets were $57 + fees, and the balcony was $100 or $150 (for a rail seat) + fees. I'd love to be on the balcony, but I wasn't gonna pay that much. I'll keep my eyes out for tickets between now and June, but $75 total was about where I was gonna max out.

BTW, I went ahead and bought a $12 to see Harms Way and Ringworm as a consolation.

Ironically, I also just a bought ticket for their record release. We don't get Queensway here, but we also get Homewrecker, Detain, and Ledge (vocalist from Weekend Nachos new sludge/hardcore band) in addition to Ringworm and Vein.

I don't really know Vein or Queensway. Guess I should check them out. I don't know how big of a draw Harms Way has, but I figured I might as well go ahead and grab a ticket just in case. For $17 with fees, it seemed like a no brainer.
