It's more normal than you'd think to have that thought every once in a while, or even often, depending on your mental disposition. Most people have, even if there wasn't any weight or motive behind the moment. Don't romanticize it. You were feeling hopeless, lacking control, and desperate. Your brain performed a sub-conscious intrusive thought/safety check to gauge what your conscious response would be (suicide is often an option processed against your consciousness in high-stress situations), and your judging by your invoked emotions to that check, don't worry. It was a moment. I'm sorry you experienced it, regardless - those manic few seconds can ruin a day/week and put your head in a really weird space for quite some time.
