but i was also 10-11 years old and squarely in the target demo for a lot of radio rock

I'm a pastor and my church was doing a clothing giveaway to the community shortly after 'Integrity Blues' came out, and I had it on repeat in our sanctuary/place for people to get clothes. A middle aged woman asked me why we were listening to music that was 'demonic,' during 'Pass the Baby.'

Jimmy Eat World: a band that can somehow be confused for both a Christian band and a demonic band at the same time.

  4. It's absurd to think that Patrick Stump is only 33 years old

I listened to Soul Punk for the first time today and really enjoyed it. Dance Miserable and Coast (It’s Gonna Get Better) were my favs on first listen

I also like Jimmy Eat World, started with Bleed American when I was in like 5th grade

I remember a post forever ago where people were shocked he was only twenty four and I was like 16, and now I'm twenty five and he's thirty three and pls

Oh hey, so confession time: I haven't listened to a single FOB record prior to Save Rock and Roll. I've heard the singles because I'm a person with ears in the United States, but nothing before 'My Songs Know' ever made me want to listen. I'm a big fan of the last three though. Is there a compelling reason for me to go backwards, or do I just stick with what I know and love?

Also, Jimmy Eat World is my favorite band (probably, at least. I definitely don't like anyone more, even if I like a couple as much).

Let's hold our breath until we disappear

I would recommend to at least listen to Folie a Deux.

Go all the way back to 2003 and start going forward

Whether you feel like coming back to Take This To Your Grave or From Under The Cork Tree is up to you but I think you'll find stuff to love on Infinity on High and Folie.

So is Infinity on High the stylistic shift? I have basically zero interest in pop-punk at this stage of my life.

Yeah definitely, starting including more diversity in the song writing and pop elements were more heavily featured.

And it's the only album with a Jay-Z intro sooo

    Favorite tracks:

    Thriller
    I'm Like A Lawyer...
    Hum Hallelujah
    I've Got All This Ringing...
The (After) Life Of the Party

I feel like if you’re a big fan of half of a band’s albums you should probably check out the others at least once

    Yeah that's fair.

FOB just seems somewhat unique in that they had a massive mid career shift, lyrically and stylistically. Every thread I read here is an argument about old FOB vs new FOB. So I've just figured if I like the new, the old might not be for me, based on other comments.

But you're right. Giving the discography a listen doesn't take much effort in this day and age.
