I hate classifying bands like Joyce Manor, The Flatliners, The Dopamines, ie any Fest band as "pop punk" because then they get lumped in with shit pop punk bands like Neck Deep etc

  4. I keep stopping at Expensive Mistakes/starting at Church, as if the latter were the first track of the album, or like the last four songs are their own kind of entity because none of them were released before the album dropped, or Young and Menace into Champion, as much as I don't mind them, are kind of a shitty opener. Really loving the album, though, already more so than AB/AP. It's like their post-hiatus Folie for me. Every song's been stuck in my head at one point or another since it came out, or even before then.

Guitar tones on Bishops Knife Trick remind me a lot of All Time Low's newest album

    you have the wrong tracklisting

  7. I'm on Spotify, so I highly doubt that. I'm just doing this weird thing where I keep finding myself starting/stopping in the middle.

    Things have changed.

The tracklisting on Spotify is the old one. It's not updated.

    The corrected tracklisting is:

    1. "Stay Frosty Royal Milk Tea" 2:50
    2. "The Last of the Real Ones" 3:50
    3. "Hold Me Tight or Don't" 3:30
    4. "Wilson (Expensive Mistakes)" 3:36
    5. "Church" 3:31
    6. "Heaven's Gate" 3:45
    7. "Champion" 3:13
    8. "Sunshine Riptide" (featuring Burna Boy) 3:24
    9. "Young and Menace" 3:44
    10. "Bishops Knife Trick" 4:23

lol at listening to Young and Menace as the opener. Spotify is really trying to ruin this album for you.

I didn't think Young and Menace was bad as an opener. Sure, the proper tracklisting adds to the experience, but it's not bad. Still a good song.

*shrug* idk just not clicking for me.

Closest anything here comes to sounding like Folie to me is the aforementioned “waiting room” line in Church.

  13. Weird situation. Gonna try this out.

I've been enjoying the album regardless.

Yeah, I listened to it on Apple Music few times and was surprised how much better the proper track listing was when I got the vinyl.

I never thought I'd see someone say "Ocean Avenue is not that good" and get away with it. But I guess them's opinions, man.

I'm with you on that one. Anyone who doesn't categorize FUTCT as pop-punk must not have listened to it in a while. Next people are gonna be telling me The Academy Is... is alternative rock.

The problem with young and menace as an opener isn't necessarily that songs fault, it's that stay frosty doesn't function a couple tracks in, it's an opener through and through in every way

The Academy Is... is proto post-modern pop singer-songwriter rock.

I listen to FUTCT like, daily. It's not pop punk.

Obviously the answer is that I haven't listened to it, couldn't possibly be that we just think differently about it

    Thank you!

  25. Stay Frosty is a flawless opener and if you move it anywhere else it doesn't have anywhere near the same impact. No wonder they changed the tracklisting. Y&M into Champion into Stay Frosty? wut in thee fucc
