Here's my only thing though, is that we say pop-punk never changes, but we have listed a lot of bands that could conceivably be considered pop-punk but we say aren't pop-punk.

Maybe pop-punk is changing and we just aren't updating our definition of what it could include. Idk I don't really care though overall I'm content with just agreeing that pop-punk as a genre has become incredibly stale and boring. Genre is stupid, and we aren't talking nearly enough about this:

Fireworks best album was OCL and isn't even pop-punk.

I would call All I Have... pop-punk but it's also their 3rd best album.

I miss Fireworks.

OCL is such an important formative record for me. I remember how happy I was to finally hear it after discovering the band 2 months before its release.

I always wanted a "just do what you can, to do what you love" tattoo

 

I think I see most of the parallels lyrically. It has a lot of lines like "There's nothing more cruel than to be loved by everybody but you" and "I became such a strange shape from trying to fit in" that really have the same sadness and loneliness as something like "(Coffee's For Closers)" or "27" ("I've got a lot of friends who are stars, but some are just black holes.")

They absolutely nailed this song.

 

I'm gonna get a tattoo that says "I'll stop wearing black when they make a darker COLOOOOOR"
