Yeah that was an interesting angle. Not hip-hop or rap fans, black fans. It's gracious of people here to give him the benefit of the doubt being 16, because that's a comment that conveys way more than just the words

It’s pretty wild how many generations of 16-year-olds have told Tate that he doesn’t talk about “real punk” music.

16 year old white males are the DEFINITIVE authority on what is or isn't "real punk," obviously.

I know that at least they have time to redeem themselves and become better people. I know this because in 8th grade I wrote a school newspaper article on “Preps Vs Punks”. I’m really glad I didn’t keep a copy of that.

I was a shitty 16 year old for sure, just shove it all down in the shit cocoon and emerge as a (less) shitty butterfly.

I knew this kid was about to start some shit in no short order the second he showed up in the Metal Thread caring more about the effect rape allegations were going to have on Decapitated's career more than the victim's well-being.

    !

that kid sure did some damage in a short time.

That's a great way to look at it. Esmé Patterson took a similar approach with her album Woman to Woman. She took one-sided love songs written about women (The Beatles' "Eleanor Rigby" and Dolly Parton's "Lorena" are two examples), and wrote responses from each woman's point of view, all of which are very empowering to not only the women in the original songs, but to those listening as well. Both are definitely great ways to take a creative stance against problematic songs and artists.

It’s sickening to hear such a clear example of how the industry exploited Emily’s talent on top of condoning Lacey’s treatment of her for so long.

An interesting (read:gross) thing I’m hearing reports of is Jesse’s wife hitting up people privately to try and plead his case.

Yo I'm the person she contacted! I'm not broadcasting because she specifically asked me not to share and like morally that makes me feel weird. Honestly there's nothing really groundbreaking, she's just mad that I called her husband "an unrepenting predator" which is super funny. It's just, I guess the best word is pathetic. I feel a lot of pity for her.

Hello! I def wasn't insulting u or anything or trying to imply u made a wrong call, sry! Totally respect ur decision. Just always makes me feel like a tattletale or narc or something lol, but I've also never been in the situation and wouldn't wanna pressure someone to release something they're not comfy with. I think it is super odd she's messaging people

hey! don't worry I wasn't thinking that. Just wanted to let you know! It is very weird and as it turns out I'm not the only one.

“A few years ago, when I began to fully grasp exactly what he had done to me, I even attempted to reach out to him to find some sort of closure. He wasn’t interested in speaking. He didn’t see how talking about anything would help.”

Doesn’t sound like the actions of someone that is hoping “to be able to take the correct actions to earn forgiveness and trust.” or believes that “none of us get to put a wall up between who we are and who we were.”

    Piece of shit.

So update on the Andrea Lacey thing : I replied her a piece of my mind, and she blocked me. It's interesting, but I made sure I expressly told her in my response to leave people alone, so I think she won't be bothering people any time soon. What a piece of work she is.

i don't think she's someone that we should truly be bothering anyways, she doesn't want her family torn apart, i don't think we should unload on women that didn't abuse anyone
