For me, the mix of form and function on "If I Believe You" is what makes it their best composition. The way the lyrics interplay with the choir sampling, the rise and fall of the instrumentation, that extended brass solo.... chills every time.

I also like how it feels like a statement when it opens up that 6-12 stretch after the relative throwback of "She's American". It's their longest track to date, and it begins their most experimental stretch, with the title track stretching just a liiiiiittle longer to close up that movement.

Live as well it's accompanied by this flash of huge strobe lighting, increases the impact further.

"Somebody Else" is my absolute favorite song on this album. I know what everyone is thinking "of course Julie likes the emo-ish song" but can you blame me? As I said before on AP, This song gives me the same feelings that I got the very first time I heard "Hysteria". Sounds crazy, but both are just romantically soul crushing in a wonderful way. I could talk about this all day long.

Yeah, I wish I waited to hear Somebody Else until the album came out. I just got too excited, haha. Such a great song.

Nana is also top-notch to me. Not to be too personal or whatever, but it's the first song I've heard that I find relatable to my father's passing. Just the general ideas of the song are what I would write about if I was in a band. It's perfect.

    Sorry for the rambling..

Somebody Else is a truly amazing song.

Songs I'm really into right now are If I Believe You ("If I'm lost then how can I find myself" is knocking me on my ass right now), Paris, and Nana.

This album feels like one big confessional and it's really heartbreaking at times to listen to. You can feel the passion and the pain in this album, it's striking.

Someone needs to email me right away when US tour dates go up. If I miss them here in Boston, I am going to be so sad. This is just as important as a FOB show, so I'm not effing around kids.>:-(

Are you going to the Lowell show? I'm so torn about it. It's so far from work. And no one else I know wants to go haha

Is this for their spring tour? If so, tickets have been on sale already, unless I missed something.

When I checked this weekend there were only Europe tour dates. Maybe that changed.

Definitely trying to make the trip out to Jersey for Jack Antonoff's Shadow of the City festival. The 1975 and Carly Rae Jepsen are the headliners.

Haha quick story: I almost drove off the road a couple weeks ago because I was snapchatting a video to my girl of me lip-syncing this part of the song. One hand on was on the phone and pressing the ceiling light to catch the "AHHHH". The other was jazz hands-ing. Needless to say, neither was on the wheel.

Would've been kind of ironic to pass away to that song.
