Yea totally LOVE Sunshine Riptide as someone who don't care for RnB/POP (can I call it like that?) and even hated everything about hiphop/RnB/POP as ,,super hardcore/punk" teenager....iam happy as I getting older I can enjoy and appreciate more genres

This album is too good. It may take over Folie as my favorite Fall Out Boy album

a fan asked Pete to write out "if I can get through this I can do anything" for a tattoo and he did it and that was a really sweet moment

like, how can you listen to this record (or AB/AP or SRAR) and really believe they've become "generic pop" or that they're not "unique" anymore? cause i read opinions like these all the time and it's honestly baffling. there's no one doing anything remotely similar to what they've been doing post-hiatus. if anything they're becoming more unique with each new record

It’s insane to me when I see people say “they are just maroon 5 now”

They don't sound anything like any other big pop or rock/guitar acts. They sound nothing like ed Sheehan, imagine dragons, muse, kings of Leon, etc. these are their peers and they're so much better than all of them

i think people press play, hear a mid-tempo beat with claps and immediately think they can predict the rest of the song. hardly ever got a friend to give the last couple albums a chance. meh

Every Fall Out Boy album is so distinctly different than one another and it’s great. Every band that I like and most I even love have put out an album I’ve been lukewarm on before....except Fall Out Boy.

It irritates the hell out of me because the friend that got me into Fall Out Boy won’t even listen to them anymore because they “don’t play real instruments anymore”

It's because people conflate pop with generic, which is ridiculous. When people say things like "they sound like everyone else" or "they don't play real instruments", all they're really saying is "they're a pop band now".

They also absolutely play real instruments on all three newer albums, guitars are everywhere on all of them, they just integrate drum machines and synths which guess what are also real instruments. Joe has said how they try to balance between traditional rock conventions and forward thinking things like plug ins and stuff because they're a fan of all that shit, old and new

There's still plenty of real drums within the drum machines too, just listen to young and menace or hold me tight

they also produce the live drums to sound like a drum machine, you would be surprised how much of it is live.

Yea of all the arguments people make against the new albums, the "they don't even play instruments" is the most insane.

I remember the first thing I thought after listening to SR&R for the first time was "Idk if I liked that, there seemed to be lack of instruments". Needless to say I don't feel that way anymore

I really love how similar the riff in Champion is to that one part in LOTRO. I wonder if it’s intentional
