Just got it from the Redbox (because I'm cheap), it's currently installing now. So pumped.

 

People have been saying that the single player is surprisingly great so I'm really tempted now haha

 

Doom 3: BFG Edition is forever one of my favorite game complitations. The history of Doom, all on one disc.

 

Playing Dark Souls 3, my first Dark Souls game, quick impressions:


Liking it a lot. Dying a lot. At the wall of Lothric right now and I think I'm a level 12, seems like it might be low, dunno. Defeated the first boss (mini boss? The guy after the Crystal Lizard) after three tries. Felt confident. Went to the next area and encountered the Master Samurai. 30 deaths and a vanquished Crystal Lizard later I killed him. Always seemed to kill me once a 3rd or 4th of his life gauge was left for some reason. I love how aggressive the NPCs are in this game, and the feeling of accomplishment when you get to the next bon fire makes the stress of the combat seem worth it somehow. Like the game's design is daring you to keep playing and calls you a waste of existence the whole time yet suddenly gives you a pat on the back and a warm hug and when you prove it wrong. The feels of playing this game are similar to what I imagined working for Gordon Ramsay would feel like or something. Currently just vanquished the quandrapedal armored boss, the frostbite guy, (might be the first or second one, dunno) and having a good time so far. Aside from the gameplay, the world, creature design and environments all seem really cool too.

 

Finally had a chance to try out the new patch/update for Rainbow 6 Siege. Had some good fun with it, definitely improves the game. The new map seems pretty good from the limited play I've had on it.

Also managed to pull out this match before I went to bed.

 

See you're countering Valkyrie already by using IQ! Have you been able to try out the new operators yet or are you not a season pass owner/

 

I don't have a season pass unfortunately. I was playing with someone who does have them, Valkyrie seems like her gadget will be extremely good. Blackbeard might be slightly OP, especially on window peaking.

I love that IQ is useful now they've adjusted her gadget, her guns were always great but now I feel like I'm not wasting a spot by picking her.

 

Does Valkyrie's gadget only work for her? I'd assume that's how it would work otherwise it'd probably be very OP, especially if there's no IQ. Blackbeard is definitely op, he's just a more mobile shield... who also has an assault rifle, definitely a game changer.

You're right about IQ though, lots of fun to play, the AUG can be godly but her gadget was almost useless, yay for buffs.

 

Everyone can use Valkryie's cameras. They're just added to the end of the rest of them, they're also quicker to move and have a fish-eye lens so you can see a lot more. Blackbeard's shield can be destroyed, but it takes about 30 rounds to do it. They might adjust that in a patch as I can see it becoming annoying.

 

Well I was going to start Bloodborne after Uncharted...but now I think I'm going to play FFX for the tenth time.

 

Never played a Final Fantasy game...

 

I'm ready to kill some demons today. Apparently the story is reminiscent of Dead Space (but not the gameplay)

 

Really? Wow, that's a pretty big accomplishment.

Any reason you never tried one of the games out?

 

That needs to come to current gen. Mainly because all future gens will probably most likely be backwards compatible, so that means I'd always be able to play it without having to dig out an old console

Aren't they both FPS? How's the gameplay different then?

I'm a pretty picky gamer as it is, but the Japanese style isn't really my thing either. I've made an exception for Kingdom Hearts so that's kinda like FF right?

 

Okay that makes sense. So I'm curious, are you considering giving FFXV a shot, since it's game play (at least action wise) is closer to the Kingdom Hearts series?

 

Most FPS's play wildly differently. but no dead space is not an FPS.

 

The new Doom is a run and gun FPS focusing on crazy action (which I'm fine with, it's trying to be fast paced like the original ones, unlike Doom 3 which was survival horror in many ways)

Dead Space 1/2 are third person survival horror games with limited ammo and limited guns. Dead Space 3 turned into a dudebro loot shooter though, which killed the franchise

 

Probably not, I haven't played KH in years at this point and probably won't go back to it anytime soon. I was more just throwing that out there in case others haven't played a FF game but it seems likely i'm one of the few that hasn't in here haha. As I said i'm kinda a weird gamer as it is.

 

Nah, it's okay, I think we all have our own odd habits. Like I don't really play any FPS games. The closest I can get to that genre is PvZ and that's third person. At the end of the day, you just enjoy what you enjoy.

 

DOOM is a bit on the boring side.

 

I'm in that same boat as well, only FPS i've played is Bioshock. Not really interested in others, plus i'm terrible at them anyways, same goes for online MP.

I just enjoy finding out the differences in gameplay between all of them, to try and get a better understanding of what i may or may not like if my mind ever changes down the road.

 

Yeah I completely agree. I don't outright dismiss the genre, but I find myself trying them out, especially when they have demos just to see if maybe a new game offers a take that might interest me.

But i think overall that may be my current approach to gaming, I like looking for something different that will maintain my interest. This probably explains why I spend a lot my time playing indie games since they offer the most variety in terms of game play.

 

I'll always remember the scene in Dead Space 2 with the needle that you must stab into your eye, and what happens when you fuck up
