Is The Witch the one with The Rock? That didn't look like a horror movie.

Problem with modern horror movies is none of them are scary.

It's a horror because you had to sit through a movie starring The Rock

Anything with The Rock is a horror movie by default

    Shut the FFFFFFRESHFISH UP

I could not disagree more with this, because that's not the sole purpose of horror.

I look to be unsettled and possibly disturbed, not scared, necessarily.

Me too. I want a horror movie to be more about atmosphere and feeling than “scares”. Fill me with dread, that’s what I want in a horror movie

Not their sole purpose, but their primary purpose.

Comedies are supposed to be comedic; dramas, dramatic; thrillers, thrilling. Horror is supposed to be horrific, and I've never found that to be the case.

There are a couple types of horror movies. There are ones like The Conjuring, which is well made, but falls into the category that I like to call, “roller coaster horror.” You get on the ride, you have a few spooks, some jumpys, ya have a good time, you get off the ride and you go about your day. Then there is stuff like The Witch, Rosemarys Baby, The Shining or even Mullholand Dr. etc. which might not say “boo!” but are cerebral and fuck with your head and just cause you to think for awhile afterwards. They might make you feel uncomfortable and you don’t necessarily know why. I prefer the latter, but rolled coaster horror has its place as well, when done right

It’s actually not that bad, I just wanted to make a joke (2/10)

    pale earnhardt jr.

I fell out of favor with horror when it was all just shock factor and gore, and I know thats not all modern horror but there was a period of time where everytime I went to see a horror movie with friends or love interests and EACH ONE I SEEN for like 3 years straight had rape scenes and I was like ".....Yeah I don't need this shit anymore..." lol
