Nope. Season 1 was about making fun of people that think people should be whoever they want to be. Tim Allens character shut off everybody around him because he's stuck in his ways and didn't learn anything. This is part of why conservatives liked it he told them its ok to be mean and to make fun of people different from you when you don't understand something. Making fun of the daughters husbands/boyfriends throughout the show indicate that he learned nothing.

The political turn just made it sad. He's just so far up his own ass it wasn't funny

 

Tim Allen was straight up embarrassing on Norm MacDonald Live. The only thing that saved that episode was when Norm was roasting him about his prison time.

Also, in season one, the daughter's ex boyfriend was a deadbeat. He should be made fun of. He was less closed off in season one.

Galaxy Quest is so great that any crap Tim Allen may have done is forgiven

Yeah he was a bad person but there was alot of them saying he was a bad person because he wasn't manly enough.

Also I felt like there was a decent amount of shaming the daughter for being pregnant/not married/sexual.

 

Running out on your family is very unmanly.

But I totally get what you're saying.

Unrelated, but the daughter in S1 was strikingly beautiful and had great comedic timing.
