An Animal Crossing announcement in January feels like a no-brainer considering the run-away success of Pocket Camp and the fact that the Wii U didn't get a full AC title (Amiibo Party doesn't count)

 

A WiiU AC is probably finished (but will never come to WiiU of course), ready to be released on Switch whenever they think makes sense. Mario has been basically ready for like a year before release according to rumors.

 

I know so many people who have bought or are interested in buying a Switch in the future, which is such a huge change from the last generation. Nintendo has done such an amazing job with marketing and creating a public consciousness that it's hard to believe we're talking about the same Nintendo. As a lifelong Nintendo fan, I couldn't be happier.

 

LTTP is an awesome game. I never played before, but I’m definitely hooked.

So, owning a Switch and loving the handheld experience has me looking at getting a PS Vita even though it’s basically dead outside of Japan, and it’s amazing to go back and read all the reviews of the Vita when it was released, all the talk of how smartphones had made handheld consoles obsolete etc. and contrast that with how well the Switch has done. It goes to show how terrible Sony’s initial marketing of the Vita was, and just how poorly timed it was. Nintendo copped a lot of shit after the Wii U but if anything that was probably the failure they needed to have, because all those learnings are part of what has made the Switch such a success. I’m glad a company had the guts to shake up the way we think about console gaming, I’m glad it was Nintendo, and I’m so so glad they’re getting rewarded for it.

 

I need to stop playing Mario Odyssey, I have Breath of the Wild to play, but it's just so much fun

 

Really wish Sony had done better by the Vita, but alas. If you like JRPGs and PSone classics you can get a lot of use out of it. Thing was my Final Fantasy machine for a while

NBA Playground Enhanced Edition is now available. It's a seperate entry in the eShop but it's free if you own the original. You can delete the original (keep your save games), your progress will carry over to the new ones.

Shovel Knight is one of those games that I’ve always intended to get but just haven’t pulled the trigger with yet. Gotta do that one of these days.

Tokyo Mirage is super fun so far. It’s making me really wanna check out old Persona games when I’m done with it (P5 is the only I’ve played)
