Classic internet argument where simply engaging makes you look bad.

  2. The only question you have to ask is if the films establish that the force allows someone to believe they’re physically engaging with something that may not be there. The answer is clearly yes.

Also, are we doing the circle jerk yet? It’s my favorite part of an annoying poster exiling themselves.

These movies about space wizards with laser swords just don’t add up.

Speaking of, what happened with Luke’s green lightsaber? Did he lose it when Kylo and company destroyed the temple?

Still a mystery at this point.

  9. Finally saw this again and was surprised the casino stuff didn't drag as much as the first time. Still thought a lot of it was cheesy.

The only real hang up I have is how bad the Leia stuff looked. When time seems to slow and you have the shot on her hand and you see the ripple from the force, that was really cool. But the floating to the ship could have been handled better.

Probably will go down as my 4th favorite.

Just saw it a third time, finally. Lots of little things I noticed either through it being brought up in this thread or by just paying extra attention. Most of them are superficial, but I'll post them anyways.

    - The burning tree with the Jedi texts kinda looks like the Rebel insignia
    - I never caught Finn saying that the battering ram cannon was "miniaturized death star tech" the first 2 times I saw this. That damn Death Star will never go away lol
    - There were two guys in dark robes/hoods in Snoke's throne room ( his servants or something) that I never even noticed my first 2 viewings. They kinda disappeared as soon as Snoke died even though they were there earlier. Doesn't bother me, just didn't see them initially
    - for those complaining that nobody lost a hand, Snoke's severed hand is left on the throne after his torso slides off of it when Hux is looking at it lol
    - there is one Porg on the Falcon in the end of the movie (sitting on R2's head), so at least one will come back!
    - when Rey is practicing with the saber, Luke stops to watch her. he kinda looks like he's impressed, and then Rey turns around and notices him there. it's at that point that she chops that rock in half, smashing the caretaker's cart. Luke leaves after that lol
    - when Rose has three TIE Fighters on her tail when she's in the speeder on Crait, the Falcon shows up and shoots all three of them down with one shot. just thought that was cool.
    - the blaster that Leia uses to stun Poe is the same one she uses in ANH
    - when Leia pulls herself through space, she floats right through the wing of the hologram of the Supremacy, foreshadowing the hyperspace kamikaze thing

Lastly (for now), when Luke finally opens himself up to the Force again, the first thing he did was reach out to Leia, prompting her awakening. It reminded me of ESB when he's hanging from the underside of Cloud City on a vane and he desperately cries out to Leia and she tells Lando to turn the Falcon around, demonstrating that special bond between them as Force sensitive twins. Gives more weight to his projection on Crait when the only physical contact he initiates is with his sister. When he does open himself up to the Force, he uses it liberally by blowing Rey's hut to pieces, snapping a rod and pulling it to him to fight Rey, and to soften his fall when she pulls the saber on him. Really shows you his mastery of it and how powerful he truly is.

I know Hitchcock is a total asshole who abused actresses but he had a quote that resonated with me when it comes to critiques vs nitpicks. He was asked why the people in his thrillers don’t just call the police and he said “because it’s boring”. You can nitpick anything but it gets to the point where it’s just kind of pointless. Like Greg and others have said, it’s a film with laser swords and space wizards and giant space ships fighting, little nitpicks are just moot. That’s like being upset about not knowing how the ships in Star Wars work. They fly, they work in space, they transport our characters, that’s all that matters.

I’ve seen this movie like 6 times now and I just adore it. I LOVE disillusioned Luke, I love the idea that he sees the Jedi as arrogant in their control of the force. There’s so many “holy shit” moments, I can’t help but gush about how wonderful these two new Episodes (and Rogue One) have been.

  15. You **really** don’t get why they stay for a little while and Kylo, specifically, sees them? The symbolism and meaning is just not registering?

What the hell did high-school reading and analysis fuck up for a generation?!!

I said it earlier in this thread - the only way to discuss movies is to talk about every detail in a condescending tone and laugh non-stop at your own "jokes". Actually enjoying movies is overrated.

do you think people watched Empire for the first time and thought "wait, Darth Vader cant be here he was shot out into space at the end of the last one!"

  20. It does feel that way these days. Liking anything seems to be very uncool. Let me vlog this.

look the Porgs are indigenous to the one island so because they went on a spaceship the whole movie falls apart

this is somehow less ridiculous than the actual takes

I only saw it once, I haven't seen a movie multiple times in theaters since like 2005, there's too many movies out for me to see them more than once
