I will also say I LOVE the diversity of the cast. White males, white females, black females, Asian females, hispanic males, chewbacca...

I actually loved her, if she's who I think she was, because the A-Wing has always been my favorite ship.

Also, i guess Jess from Black Squadron wasn’t in TLJ because she was filming The Defenders at that time. Poor choice on her part, that show suuuckkked

the more I sit on the movie the more I like it, I don't understand the hate, and I'll defend the film to anyone lol. Why can't people just be happy with what they get? Our society really is "nothing is good enough" and this movie proved that to me.

I think this movie was probably a little too smart for it's own good and it has proven that big blockbuster movies need to be just that, big dumb superhero movie carbon copies.

    thanks I guess.

I understand all the complaints. Still far off from being a bad movie. My review will be short: "This film contained the best moments of any Star Wars movie and also the worst/most wtf moments of any Star Wars movie."

I still think the prequels had wayyyy worse stuff than anything in this movie, including the Leia space scene.

    Round 3 tomorrow.

How is using the force to project yourself across the galaxy to confront Kylo Ren (The confrontation in the manner is better for A LOT of reasons) and save the resistance/his friends in their hour of need not a memorable death? That whole samurai showdown scene in the shadow of AT-M6s and AT-ATs on Crait was stellar. (And just because we haven't really talked about it, the whole red dirt upended from a salt covered planet is such an incredible design choice that resulted in SO many memorable shots.)

The epilogue at the end has kids playing with toys referring to Luke Skywalker and what happened. WHAT DO YOU PEOPLE WANT!?

    ...

    ahem

I'm glad you enjoyed Kylo Ren in the film.

pretty much this. go back and read our thoughts on this a few days ago, him NOT fighting is essential to the film

I mean I’m unsure how Luke’s sacrifice to save the resistance (all through the force which was a pretty OH FUCK moment) is a weak goodbye?

I have my grievances with the film but the way they sent Luke off is not one of them.

Helllll yeaaa me too. I think only a couple have said that on here. For me i don’t think it’s best overall. Maybe not even 3rd or 4th best executed. But still my favorite.

I hold most of the Finn/Rose storyline as the poorest, with resistance slowest chase in the world being middle way, to Rey/Luke/Ren/Snoke being the best in terms of the film's offerings. Lows are lows, maybe not the lowest, but highs are far superior.

I will say after my first viewing I was kind of in disarray almost. It's like I was too focused on the weirder parts, but second viewing was far more enjoyable.

All of this Star Wars stuff makes me really wish Battlefront 2 didn't have the shit show it had, I really want to get immersed in a game with this stuff. The ending mission of their campaign (I watched on YouTube) was some really cool stuff for Kylo.

The Leia space scene I have no issue with thematically or narratively, I just think it ends up looking silly for a couple reasons: the effects aren’t quite there to make it look natural, and even though this is a space fantasy series, it’s had six movies to establish rules and ideas for how the Force works structurally and visually, and the Leia space scene looks significantly “off” because it doesn’t follow any of those rules. Thematically I like the idea of the Force being utilized in ways we’ve never seen before, expanding our understanding of what it can do, but I can’t say I thought it looked great in the moment visually.

I think that scene, Luke, and the Rose/Finn stuff are the things I’ve seen complained about the most. Luke and the Rose/Finn plot are mostly great the way they are. The Leia space scene looks weird and I get someone feeling that way but that’s a minor detail, ultimately. This movie is super good.

That said, too many other intriguing movies are out for me to give it a second viewing for quite awhile.

I really enjoyed the campaign in that game but yeah the last mission with Kylo was so awesome how it sort of led right into TFA
