Blink converted me from a hip hop fan to a rock fan Way back in middle school/high school

It doesn’t help that a lot of their older material does not hold up. And some lyrics really haven’t aged well at all.

Honestly, they have 3 great albums. The rest is give or take with Neighborhoods being the one I would get rid of entirely.

    Things have changed.

For the record, it appears Travis was in the studio with Feldmann's (former?) engineer, Zakk Cervini:

Maybe they'll alternate between Matt and Tom. While Matt's doing trio stuff, maybe they'll pull Tim in.

Dude Ranch, Enema, TOYPAJ and Untitled are great albums to me. Cheshire Cat and Neighborhoods have maybe 6 songs on each album I can listen to but the rest haven't aged well. I like California but fully admit it's a different band and not really fair to compare to their other material but would take that album over CC and Neighborhoods.

I like untitled, and parts of neighborhoods/ Cali.

I first heard toypaj and earlier material in 2006, and I didn't really care for it.

Hahah I was exactly the same. I was ALL ABOUT anything bad boys related - puffy, biggie, mase, the lox....then I heard Dammit in Can't Hardly Wait and I was like "MOM BUY ME A SKATEBOARD AND DICKIE SHORTS NOW!"

Same. I was all in Mase, Tupac, Eminem, Bone Thugs, Biggie, and then I heard STFTK. I was like “This music actually speaks to me.” On a personal level I relate to the lyrics in rock music more often than I do mainstream hip hop of the 2000s which is when I was listening to it.

I’m pretty sure you can respect Travis and his drumming while still disliking the music blink makes haha

He used to/probably still does make fun of them by saying they basically ripped off Descendents but took it to whole other level with fame/money and stuff. Thats Fat Mike though. The guy has no filter and doesn’t give a single shit haha. He’s made fun of Green Day too, but I’m pretty sure he’s good friends with Billy Joe Armstrong.

I probably wouldn’t say he was ever on any bad terms with Blink in the past either. It’s just him talking. Prob not a fan of the music, but fans of them as people.

As long as it wasn’t a spoiler, still yet to watch it. If it was a New Hope song comment then would work either way

I think Fat Mike just didn’t like Tom. He likes Blink now that Matt is in the band.

That’s a really reductive and unfair portrait you’re painting of hip hop music.

I should clarify not all. I’m talking about the mainstream of the early 2000s. I like and respect a lot of hip hop still. That is my bad

A lot of the people you name-dropped are better lyricists than Blink ever was though

I’m not even going to try and say blink are some great lyricist, and that they’re better than any hip hop artist. There are MANY hip hop artists and even rock artists that I can say have better lyrics than them. Me on a personal level is what i meant, Something is getting lost in translation here. Apologies
