    Just random thoughts/superficial observations

At the end of TLJ, Kylo kneels and picks up Han’s dice. He looks up and sees Rey, standing in the falcon. She closes the door. It’s interesting to me that Kylo almost looks like he is kneeling in front of Rey, with light pouring into the room behind him? Memory is a little fuzzy

Rey looks very princess-like when she arrives in her weird coffin pod to meet Kylo

Women in Star Wars - love, compassion, confidence, fighting for others who can’t fight for themselves, knowing right from wrong — Shmi, Padme, Leia. Now Rey encompasses all of those qualities. Never got the Rey going to the dark side idea.

Anyone know of good videos or podcasts that go into the mythology, fairytale nature, and hero’s journey influence with SW?

This is exactly why Brick didn't work for me. I get that it's the point, but I felt like the styled dialogue came at the expense of characters feeling like charichatures and not real people, which took out my investment in the story. I'd loved Looper and Johnson's BB work so I thought I'd love Brick, kinda bummed me out

    Going for round 2 today.

I’ve read and listened to so much about this movie and I’m really hoping a different approach with less “fanboy hype” makes me like this more.
I really think the amount of subversion in the film thru me for a loop. Still might not love it but gonna give it the old college try.

Random thought. The few times Rey screams. (When Snoke was torturing her/reading her mind/ 2 Times in the battle against the guards) really sent shivers down my spine.

Love how daisy is able to sell Rey both as being so sweet/kind/caring/tender one moment then an intense/powerful warrior when she needs to be.

She sold that dynamic in the force awakens really well but I think really mastered both aspects in this movie. I know we have a lot of characters to deal with in Star Wars but I think we need to spend more time with Daisy in 9 than we did in 8.

I'm also hoping 9 is a little more laser focused, as much as I enjoyed how "scattered" 8 felt, I'd enjoy that as a contrast.

Agreed. I was hoping this movie would dive a little more into her character. Here's to hoping 9 does.

There won’t be an extended cut. There will be deleted scenes included, but the theatrical cut is the official and final version.

that whole scene has a ton of religious imagery. When Kylo walks into the room there are lights (from the launch bay, flood lights)in the background that look like crosses, there are also little colored looking glass portions on the wall entrance that resemble stained glass. Kylo then kneels with the dice that could almost resemble a rosary. Rey standing in front of him.

Noticed this on my first watch, I’m sure people have written about it by now. But it’s not an accident.

Another reason I think JJ coming back is a great thing. Only thing I’m hoping is the romances aren’t big storylines. I definitely wouldn’t mind Poe and Rey having an adventure because I think they could have great chemistry, but I also think making that and finn and roses thing a priority would really detract from the amount of things that need to happen to close off a trilogy that feels like it’s just restarting

I get it. There’s arguments about TFA rehash. TLJ too different. But we can’t assume the same people complaining about TFA are the same ones saying TLJ is too new. I’m sure a lot of the ones who said TFA is a rehash are the ones who love TLJ and many who love TFA hated TLJ.

I think it just comes down to the fact that you are never going to please everybody in the biggest fan base probably ever especially in a culture that ostensibly is trained to find things to hate.

Real post on my Facebook feed today,

“Disney has become a destroyer of dreams, instead making dreams come true. Starwars was absolute garbage. Basically just cheap entertainment and a political platform. Also... someone fire whoever did their space battles... no gravity in space.“
