No I think he created the link but he wasn't necessary for them to stay connected. These are two very powerful Force users, I don't think they'd need him around to stay connected once it was done.

I mean, both could have seen the exact same thing. They could have seen each other fighting the guards side by side. Which they did. But it wasn’t in the context they thought it was when they saw the vision.

Rey sees Kylo fighting with her, she thinks, “he turns back!”

Kylo sees Rey fighting with him, “yes! I turn her. She is mine!”

Upon a second viewing that was how i interpreted it. In the elevator they both said "When the time/moment comes youll choose dark/light" And I think that was foreshadowing the throne room. not further in the future

I've got a guy on my Facebook feed who went on a live 10 minute rant about why he hated the movie. He used James Bond as an example, saying that Daniel Craig went to go see Sean Connery on an island to recruit Sean for his help, but Sean ended up being a "crybaby bitch" because he failed his last mission. He also then likened Luke's final appearance as it not being Sean Connery showing up to save the day, but rather it was a drone and then the drone ran out of batteries.

    Do I engage?????????????????????

Right. If Kylo's side of the story were the entire truth, I'd understand more of the backlash from longtime fans that Luke acted out of character. But while "fear leads to the dark side" is a huge element of the OT, I'm not sure that means Luke Skywalker can never be afraid again in his life for even a split second. "Luke Skywalker has a moment of weakness and considers killing a (to this point) innocent because he can see that he will one day be the darkest of all" isn't inherently unbelievable to me based on anything in the other films. Had he done it, sure, ridiculous, but he immediately realizes the error of his thoughts.

The incompleteness of the Force visions are also why Snoke could not forsee his betrayal. He saw Kylo Ren turning a lightsaber to smite his greatest enemy. He was right but not just like Kylo and Rey were right but not. There is thought put into this film in regards to plotting that I wish people appreciated more.

Fuck no. His argument is incoherent. James Bond and Star Wars are completely different in pretty much every way. You won't have any success.

I thought your first statement was pretty obvious when I watched it.
If the movie spelled out every little detail people are asking for, it would’ve been like 4 hours long.

The RLM guys are very good, except for the Mr. Plinkett Force Awakens review, which is shitty criticism. Coming from someone who thinks the Force Awakens is bad.

But TFA is great. Their review was great, minus a couple odd random points they tried to make.

I need to rewatch TFA when I'm not deep in my feelings for TLJ. I tried watching it immediately after but the visual aesthetic and clarity of action in TLJ spoiled me. There are lots of scenes in TFA that could be done with some shots of panache that were pedestrian overall. I feel like JJ Abrams would've shown Holdo's suicide attack as a cool streak of light and some explosions but not much more.

when I read that Abrams said that after he read TLJ he had wished he was directing it, i was bummed because I loved TFA. Now seeing TLJ, I'm so glad he didn't.

Agreed but I think now that the burden of bringing back Star Wars and after seeing the amount of creativity Rian brought both in story/theme/visual/etc, I think hell be more inspired to bring a more creative vision as well.

I think the fact he wanted to direct 8 after seeing the script is one of the best omens we have.

I'm sure I've said this already in the thread but I think both of them brought a lot of unique good things to the series and I'm not sure there's a better way to wrap it up than Abrams at the helm but with the benefit of knowing RJ's choices. If JJ's does IX in a way that builds on the strengths of this one it's very possible it's the best of the 3.

Yeah I completely forgot he had said that. Makes me more confident he won't mess with anything that Johnson did in TLJ.
