I definitely felt like the opening scene between Hux and Poe tried a little too hard on being funny. It didn’t take me out of the scene though

    "Alright that's pretty much nowhere."

That’s the main problem I had with it but it’s no different than The Force Awakens in that regard. It’s really just Poe and Finn.

Honestly. The audience reaction to this reminds me of Ghostbusters last year. That movie was far better than the internet made it out to be.

  8. Yep. That said, I don’t think the internet hates this as much as it seems from the nuclear hot takes. There’s some vocal people but in the movie groups I follow people seem to like it but say it has some flaws. It’s not as extreme. The Letterboxd crowd seems positive on it. All my Star Wars nerds seem to be positive on it.

Yeah definitely. I think the ridiculous hot takes plus the ridiculous RT score has me convinced everyone hates it... but like the RT score is stupid anyway, that’s like basing it off of IMDB user ratings. The hot takes are pretty hilarious though. Some people live really sad lives haha

I would say it’s easy to understand why people are disappointed in some aspects or don’t like it. But to hate it? I honestly don’t get that. I think there is enough good straight up cinema moments that make “hate”too strong. Like I’m not sitting here thinking it’s a perfect movie. It’s far from it.

Oh that’s better then I thought. Really puts the audience score on RT in perspective. Trolls pissed at the critic rating and trying to fight it

Someone commented on my facebook post review of the movie with “Luke died....noooooooo” and I immediately deleted it. What the heck guy.

Went in spoiler free, left feeling it was just average.

The Good: Some beautiful shots, the throne room sequence/fight comes to mind. Some really cool ideas, especially Rey and Kylo reaching out to each other through the Force. Luke as Yoda 2.0. Luke not actually being there for the final battle was great and totally took me by surprise. Porgs were fun and not overdone.

The Bad: Superman Leia was ridiculously dumb and looked bad (at least in 3D). The Finn storyline just to give him something to do. Hit or miss comedy.

Neutral: Yoda. Snoke's death. Luke's ending.

So it was fine, doesn't make me excited for the next one like TFA did. Probably my least favorite of the new ones, but I'd like to have a few more viewings before cementing that in.

I definitely don’t have the same problems with the film as I did Thursday night after watching it today. I feel like TLJ will grow on me the more I watch it. It’s pretty flawed, but with the news of Johnson getting his own trilogy I was expecting something near perfect. Hype kills.

If its just trolls then why didnt they also troll TFA when it came out? I also wonder why they would choose RT and not also imdb. Im not interested in dwelling on deciphering it but the aforementioned makes it seem obvious its not 100% trolls.

Superman Leia isn’t as bad as everyone says, she’s floating in space and uses the force to pull herself into a vacuum which isn’t nearly that difficult. I’m glad she has the ability to do this, we wanted to know how strong she was with the force and we got our answer. It looks unnatural bc it is but it’s not as far fetched as any other force scene.

It’s not all trolls. That’s a defense mechanism. Sure, there are some trolling reviews mixed in - but to say “RT has trolls, but IMDB doesn’t because it has an 8/10” only because one aligns with your assessment of the film is sheer ignorance.

TFA got an 88% user score on RT. That’s a ton of happy trolls.

Just curious as its hard to keep track of everybodys opinions. What were your problems initially that didnt bother on second time and the ones that still persisted?

    Ok I’m ignorant.

But the difference is pretty staggering. A 53% versus an 8/10? How can you say that people aren’t trolling? Bitter fans are mad that critics like it and don’t like that it’s got a 93% obviously you have a bunch of people voting 0

Take arms, it'll all blow over Prestigious

Would RTs metric even factor in how negative the review is? Figured it'd be just like the critic tomatometer

imdb would be more susceptible to trolling no?
