The CGI was poor? I’m done with this.

Yes? I mean, to me personally it was, but I’ll leave the Leia one up to everyone’s own opinion. I don’t think there’s much up for debate with those other two, though.

Not saying you have to like it. As I said, it’s pretty split. Your reasoning just seems silly to me. You didn’t like it because it looked like what was literally happening? Whatever.

  4. I don’t know what anyone would think someone pulling themselves though space with the force would look like ...

Things looked especially goofy with post-production 3D.

I put all of my complaints with the CGI on it being an IMAX 3D showing.

  7. Ew 3D.

There were some spots where you could tell something was CG, like an animal, but billions of places where you had no idea. The team was top notch.

I don't remember the last time I saw a movie in 3D.... maybe Avatar when the craze was at its peak? I always found it to be a detriment 9 times out of 10.

  9. The if this is a thing we should do or not do I get. But as for how it looked, it’s basically exactly what I would expect. And her facial twitch is great.

Leia's inclusion past that scene also felt inconsequential no? Aside from some reunion stuff with Luke. They must have had some major stuff planned for her in IX, otherwise the decision for her to survive that attack is even more puzzling.

Don't get why people are starting to argue over things. Saying you're wrong for liking or disliking moments. Most people seem to acknowledge the film was very risky, which by definition means people are either going to like the directions they take or won't. For some people, all the risks could have landed favourably on your side and you love it, for someone else they may happen to have missed and you were disappointed.

I fail to see how someone can argue that of course the film took risks and then fail to understand why someone wouldn't have liked them, you just admitted the decision was a risk. Nobody is "determined to hate the film" some of us just didn't like it, we don't have to like it because it was a Rian Johnson Star Wars film but I'm glad a lot of people do. The types of choices it makes in the movies definitely makes it a marmite type of film. I know for a fact tons of the people who didn't like the film went in so excited and ready to love it, like I did, there's no grand agenda to hate on it from the majority. Everyone's entitled to like it or not like it and I'm happy for the one's that can say they love it, they're better off for it

Someone said I’d perfectly somewhere on the web, maybe here, that she looked like an old Mary poppins floating through space. I thought it was pretty cheesy, and the first thought that came to my mind was me imagining telling my sister that it’s a really good movie (she’s not into sci-fi but she’ll watch a Star Wars film) and her later seeing that part and being like “whaaat, laaame” lol .
Also, has the force ever been used to save someone from that kind of explosion?

If you like the scene that’s cool, but how ppl can’t see the goofiness in it is beyond me.

I certainly don't begrudge anyone for enjoying the movie, it's certainly going to be divisive and I certainly wanted to enjoy it more than I did.

What works for you won't always work for me and vice versa, the beauty of opinion or some such.

People need to understand there is a massive distinction between telling someone their opinion is wrong/not allowed vs pointing out that their specific reasons for holding that opinion are a bit foolish or don’t make sense.

Oh, something that isn’t talked about enough! The cinematography during the opening was so freaking good, especially during the segment with Rose’s sister. The shot looking down as she drops the “payload” was so cool, just an awesome design all around.

The snow planet they were on at the end was so visually good. I was in love with the red impact marks.

  21. They didn’t know she was gonna actually die.

She teaches Poe a huge lesson. And definitely needed closure with Luke.

One last gripe on my end, because it's the only thing in the last part of the movie that really bothers me... but Poe colossally fucking up only for Leia and Holdo to go oh shucks, that Poe... before Holdo dies was deeply annoying.

Granted the characters don't know it's Poe's plans fault that their escape is stymied, but it's something I found frustrating all the same.

Indeed. I wish we had gotten more with Paige. I picked up the book she is in, but I haven’t started reading it yet.
