The amount of online hate this is getting is pretty ridiculous. Like, I get it there are some WTF moments. But to act like they should remake the movie and pretend it didn’t happen, or that Rian has made a colossal misstep or that it’s worse than the Prequels is so ridiculous.

I would love to hear Rian explain why he included the milk scene.

Yeah, I'm shocked that fans are actually not loving it. I really thought that bucking expectations would play bigger to the obsessed crowd, but it seems like as a more casual big fan of the series I was in the sweet spot for those revelations.

And I'm so glad Trevorrow is out. I think the guiding forces at play here (no pun intended but intended) would have kept his episode IX on track, so I don't think he would have made a bad Star Wars sequel. But I think he would've really struggled to make a sequel to this movie.

Haha it’s not close to prequel level bad. In my definitive rankings I’d place it behind episodes 4-7 easily right now.

I have very little faith in Trevorrow after Jurassic World, and Jurassic World 2 looks like it could be worse. Do we know if Disney forced him out?

Such a great moment. Lots of ooh and owws and woah when I watched. Didn’t take away from the scene, if anything it shows how much people were left in awe.

Also, as we all know, Leia was supposed to be a big role in 9. sadly, our Princess has passed on. So when Trevorrow came on and Lucasfilm and he agreed on what the movie was going to be, it included her. Now she is gone and the movie will have to change, perhaps dramatically so. Another part of his leaving could be that he and Kennedy couldn’t agree on what the movie had to become. They agreed on a movie and now it has to change. Maybe his vision didn’t fit with the change.

I totally thought that’s what it was going to be, and was thinking “oh that explains the “this movie is gonna Piss people off” comments.”

What do people think of Kylo Ren in his film? Do you think Ben is past the point of no return?

I hope so. I think that'd really undermine this film if he gets a redemption arc. Midway through this the opportunity was there to do it cool and with that ship sailing so goes the whole thing I think.

Yes, and I think the reason why he's such a unique 'bad guy' is that he's able to tap into both the Dark and Light sides. Like he's on the line between the two but is making a conscious decision to be evil, rather than being completely controlled by the Dark side of the Force like other Sith.

That’s kind of the big question for him isn’t it?

Personally, I want him to just dive deep into the darkness and never come back.

Thought it was okay. Felt way too long, I was bored during a lot of it.

I still think the Leia surviving being exploded and floating in space with no protection is unbelievably dumb. The Rey/Kylo Ren tag team fight was fantastic. I'm mad Luke is gone, I wanted to see him have one last great duel (the Kylo Ren fight wasn't enough!)

    yeah good okay Prestigious

I do feel like Kylo is beyond redemption. He's so dead set on killing Luke and Luke has to explain to him that he'll always be with him, just like Han. Then we see him connect with Rey one last time while she boards the Falcon. She was his only real hope of turning but she literally shut the door on him, and then we see the little golden dice that belonged to Han disappear in his hands. With that door shutting, he finally did what he preached about the whole movie by letting the past die.....with die in his hands

I kinda hope he’s beyond redemption. I don’t want him to be Vader pt 2 in the next movie

Really little thing but I loved how Rey kept calling Kylo "Ben". I think the fact Leia saying her son is dead pretty much seals the deal he won't pull a Vader in 9. At least I hope not.

In the scene in Snoke's throne room, when Rey and Kylo are fighting the Praetorian guards, I just noticed some of the choreography on a second viewing of it. When Kylo is fighting one of them, the guards around him are stabbing at air to make it look like there's more going on and there's a moment where Rey kicks one of them and 3 of them fall down. Not gonna be able to unsee that now.
