This was not what I expected but “sucked” is such a strong word for it. I feel like I need to see it 3 more times

After thinking about it all day, this has resonated pretty positively with me. Despite a good number of flaws, I’m delighted with all the big picture moves made in this film, and the way we got them as well.

Leia scene, Finn/Rose stuff, partial tone deafness, and sloppy editing were all varying degrees of awful; but I’ve spent all day basically repeating all the great stuff from the movie in my head all day.

I thought the casino scene was awesome, I loved the world building. It felt like, “yea this is the Star Wars version of the 1 percent”

I love how anti-rich people this movie was as a whole. Snoke’s hubris, Rey’s parents, the casino..

Wait a second... why the hell did DJ not just break out of the prison earlier if he had the power too?

Biggest disappointment for me was the lack of back story for Snoke. I’m sure it was intentional but it bothered me that this guy is so powerful but yet we have no idea how he got there or who trained him

Probably has something to do with the insane amount of Carrie Fisher scenes we got

Really, the audience is supposed to think “Oh yeah, he was just taking a nap!”

  11. I mean, he's literally in there sleeping. Audience doesn't have to think anything, they can watch it. It's pretty clear he knows he can leave whenever he wants and is sleeping off a hangover.

  12. Y'all need to watch more older western movies. :-p

I love how upset Reddit is about how this is a “fuck you” to the lore. Every addition to the lore was great imo, that was definitely not one of the flaws

  14. That's a weird take imo, I don't agree that it's a "fuck you" at all. I think it's a fantastic building on the lore. It's reverent, but it doesn't feel the need to cloak itself in it. It let's there be room for the storytelling to explore new things.

I think Rian Johnson gets Star Wars more than Lucas has in 30 years.

Strong agree. It felt so fresh, much needed after TFA rehashed a lot of the old

Seeing as a certain someone desperately needs a new one, do we have a canonical answer for where Luke’s green lightsaber is?

I would much rather she build her own, preferably on screen, but watching Luke project himself with the blue saber had me wondering.

TFA: ok, ya want Star Wars back? Here you go!
TLJ: It’s 2017 and it’s time to make things new.

  19. Nah, it looked like he was there fighting off a drunken hangover from not that long ago. Not the kinda cell someone is in for weeks or months. It was a holding cell thing. Total old western move.

    Good point.

Maybe the reason he didnt project himself on Crait against Kylo with the green saber is because he knew Kylo took it after he turned on Luke in the flashback. or maybe he knew it was destroyed. So he knew Kylo wouldve thought something was up

And maybe the lightsaber in Kylos hand in TFA in the flashback is Lukes green saber?

  21. Wait did Chris Yates think we got too many Leia scenes?

Did Kylo not kill Rey because he knew it would be his only opportunity to kill Snoke? Or does he genuinely care about her despite not being able to be turned?

  23. I think both. He also thought he could turn her, but I do think he "cares" and has a feeling of something there.
