    I loved Hux.

Me too, obviously. Why would people want it to go exactly the way they thought it would? Is being right on the internet, being able to say "ha ha I told you so!," really worth foregoing a satisfying and surprising experience? Really?

I dont doubt this. Conversely, I have to wonder why it didnt happen to TFA also though.

    “The greatest teacher, failure is”

    Rey
    Kylo
    Finn
    Poe
    Leia
    Luke
    Rose
    Snoke
    Holdo
    Phasma
    Hux
    DJ
    Chewy
    BB8
    R2
    3P0

Look I agree that Holdo, Phasma and DJ were dissapointing but Id love to see somebody make a movie where this many characters in one movie gets enough screen time to please everybody equally. The reason they got those great actors is because they want great actors bring something special to a small role, not to take the spotlight form the main cahracters. Not saying this movie was executed perfectly but Rian had to juggle so many spinning plates and he hit what mattered.

This movie really did not feel like 2 and a half hours. In a good way.

Just a quick thought: the enormity of Snoke's destroyer was really awesome in the same way that the downed destroyer on Jakku was cool. Speaking of Jakku:
    "everyone's from somewhere."
    "I'm from Jakku."
    "okay yeah, that's nowhere."

Her parents don’t matter. It would be a disservice to Rey at this point to make them a focus of the next movie.

Rey has been without them for roughly 15(?) years. She has survived and out grown needing them. Emotionally, she hadn’t let go yet, which makes total sense. I think she grieved that truth here and will not look for them or try to find out their names or anything. I’m open to them not following that, but based on the movie, they are dead and buried in Jakku somewhere and that is that.

    Let the past die.

    yeah good okay Prestigious

It seemed apparent that Luke wasn't really on Crait when he showed up with his old hair/beard and left no footprints but I liked that the only thing he really touched was Leia in the whole sequence. Showing their bond as twins through the Force :)

Ill admit my disappointment with the character was from my expectation and reading her character in the book Leia:POA. I was really excited for her quirkiness and she was kind of bland to me by contrast. Did love the sacrifice and her moment with Leia, which her line about Leia "teaching her" was a nod to the book as well.

  13. I, for one, am very worried about Rian Johnson's career now.

  16. There's obvious reason why we shouldn't care toooooo much about Holdo and Phasma, but I think this movie sets up a very interesting arc in ep XI for a power struggle between Kylo Ren and Hux. Also, I thought Gleeson was a riot.

I was a bit worried about his career, because I want him to go back and make some more smaller original films like Looper instead of getting caught in the blockbuster machine forever. But he's only directing the first of his trilogy, so hopefully after that he goes and makes something original again.

I am saving this post for the next film. You may well be right, but that scene seemed way too stunted to be entirely taken at face value. Still something there I think. We'll see

  21. It is. And it's also ok for me to laugh at ones I think are ridiculous. "Time to get new writers" is one of the funniest "opinions" about a movie that we already know isn't writing the third. "Time to get new writers" is just so ridiculously over the top.

I mean, come on that nuclear take is just hilarious.

Briefly off-topic but hey, I just realized: now that the Star Wars hype is dying down, we can all collectively turn our focus toward getting ready for Black Panther.

    ONLY TWO MONTHS!!!!!!!!!!

I went with 10 other people and not one of them could even tell me the name of Laura Dern's character and all of us agreed we didn't understand her motivations or care about her character.

I love Laura Dern and she's incredible and needs to be in everything but I didn't like her character at all

But it wasn’t only that scene. Remember what she learned in the cave. Look at the bigger picture...
