I’m on board with all this. I’m not sure what exactly I woulda done differently, but I know I’ll have ideas. Haha. So much of the Finn stuff and on the ship later didn’t work for me. Poe’s character moments did. Good growth. Finn didn’t seem to learn or grow. I’m not sure who he is. And those scenes didn't click. Even the sacrifice/save didn’t work for me that much, why not just throw grenades in the thing after crashing?

 

Question: Do we believe Rey’s parents story?

 

I genuinely am having every thought and feeling on this. I’ve never been this unsure on where I stand on a movie, especially a Star Wars one. Can it be both the best and worst simultaneously? I am 50/50 on if this is a bad movie with plenty good going for it, or a great movie with a lot that went wrong.

 

I feel like Kylo was trying to trick/mislead Rey with that one. Like how would actually know that about her parents?

 

I hope so. I just don’t really see any answer to who her parents are satisfying me if it’s actually someone we know already. I would be too distracted on trying to make it make sense. I like the idea that she is a random, strong force user and that the Skywalker connection is through Kylo now. I really like Adam Driver, but I hope we get a more controlled, confident Kylo next episode.

 

I always think we should make a rule where come opening day we shouldn’t have to use spoiler tags and it’s everyone else’s bad if they come lurkin in here before they see it

Just got home. It’s 3am. I have a lot of thinking To do. Round 2 in 13 hours.

 

I think after tomorrow that’s fine. I’m just going with it until tomorrow. Cause I didn’t know who was here for first night.

Glad I saw it first day.

Biggest question for me, if Luke was going to die anyway, why did he have to force project himself to Crate? Like why didn’t he just go there? Maybe I missed something. I mean him force projecting was sweet. I just didn’t get why he did it if he died anyways

 

I think it led to a longer delay for them. He was able to make that take so much longer that way. Maybe time to travel too? (Loved the wink at c3po.)

Did Luke really have a way to get out to Crate though? Like I doubt that submerged X-Wing would’ve gotten there in time. It was probably easier to do it that way.

 

That moment was very cool though. And I’m glad it wasn’t what people thought.

God I love Rey so much. As much as I liked Luke as a kid is how much I now like Rey. Hah.

 

That shot was so cool.

I liked her a lot more after this one. I liked her alright after TFA. But this made me love her. I think she has grown as an actress as well since last time.

 

Probably wouldn’t have survived initially getting shot at like a hundred times though

 

Talking about this with everyone is making me like it a little more too. Like I’m remembering stuff I loved and the part that dragged doesn’t come in. Heh.

 

Exactly. And she had so many great parts and you could see her struggle. She fully embraced and fought through the biggest choice she had. Her dichotomy with Kylo is very interesting.

 

I hope Rey builds her own lightsaber in IX, hopefully she gets her own crystal too. Give me that Consular Green or Sentinel Yellow blade.
