Yes thank you everyone. When @skurt @ComedownMachine and Myself thought up this club, I did not expect it to get this big, and yet here we are not even a month later and having 60 members and counting, and over 200 albums in the bag. The discussions have been great, and many of us have discovered new music we plan to keep listening to. And friendships have been born. Thank you for the support and participation

I’m in! I’d love to be partnered with someone that listens to hip hop, etc. just because it’s my least favorite genre and I really want to try and appreciate it.

I'm waiting to be paired with a metalhead lol. My dad loves metal so I'm not unfamiliar but it's prob the most out of my element with my own listening habits.

Alright so this is for round 2. Yup kinda late. Also I guess I'm skipping round 3?

Well anyways, I was recommended Ratboys - GN, by @KidLightning. Now I was really excited to dig into this record. Haven't heard of the band until everyone started putting out their EOTY lists which created some hype. Unfortunately... I don't have much to write about this record. After a few listens nothing really stuck with me. I could not get hooked on a melody, and without that any lyrics however thoughtful or well written slipped by me. The only track that really stood out to me was the last one, "Peter the Wild Boy" but mainly cause I enjoyed the tone of the acoustic guitar. Perhaps I'll give it another try in the future or listen to the band's first album to get a firmer grasp on their sound. Until then I will file this record with the many other records that are well liked but lost on me.

I really just want to chime in and say that picking your partner is going to set a bad precedent; I think the innate randomness of the people you'll exchange records with is large part of the appeal of this undertaking.

If you want to recommend someone a record, you can... just do that on your own time, so to say.
Just my 2 cents or whatever. but they're euro cents so they're worth a little more.

My impressions of I Was Trying to Describe You by Crime In Stereo, as recommended by @Mister Lyrical

My girlfriend makes me put this record on every time we drive somewhere. It sounds like Pavement thought "hey, we can make a post-hardcore record!" It's very angular. Even the singing is angular. Everything is always slightly off-key, but in a very charming way. There's lots of dynamics on this record. The screaming is great. I Am Everything I Am Not is our favorite because of the sick riff that permeates the entire song. Type One is also pretty dope.

I will be listening to this record for a long time. Thank you, Señor El Lyrico.

So, @nfdv2 limits who can see their profile. This is going to make this tough.

Maybe there should be disclaimer that if you want to participate, you should be able to message one another.
