When talking about Roy Moore and most of his evangelical supporters, I think it’s important to understand their outlook on the world. It’s very different than what most rational thinking beings would subscribe to. For evangelicals, it mostly comes down to when you think the rapture is going to occur. For a lot of southern evangelicals, they think it will happen before the next millenium; therefore, they want to convert as many Catholics, Christians, and Jews as possible. The idea is rolled up under dispensational premillennialism. In their view, they want to help/save people before God sends them to hell. Muslims aren’t really a consideration other than their religion is wrong and dangerous. Hardline conservative evangelicals want the world to end essentially. It’s very much a cult in that aspect. So it makes sense they support laws that eat away at the environment or cause chaos domestically or internationally (i.e. the Jerusalem stance by the white house).

This is only scratching the surface, but if Democrats/progressives want to thwart this way of thinking that is very much in the white house now and in Trump’s ear, I think it is prudent to understand what we are actually trying run against and rebuke.
