Hows everyone enjoying the club so far? Any suggestions on how we can improve future sessions? How are we all today?

Really enjoying it and the fact that the overwhelming majority are sticking to it and taking time to listen and give good feedback that generates good discussion. Really cool.

I know someone was left stranded so maybe make the contingency that was put into effect an "official" one for anyone who finds themselves in a similar position in future weeks?

I know this upcoming session that guys partner is being left out, alongside a few others who never posted feedback. Hopefully that remotivates them.

The rule I’m going with is that everyone gets a ‘I got too busy week’ and can catch up the next week; but if you miss two consecutive Or didn’t even message your partner back the first week you are benched until it’s corrected

    That's it, that's my review

I was listening to it last night as I fell asleep and vividly can recall the first like three songs knocking me on my proverbial ass. It was truly something else, so crazy. I think I slept shortly after but it must've been in and out cause I still remember a lot. Gonna give it a more focused listen today at some point

Can I just offer two or three 60s/world/jazz recs to this entire crew every week and whoever wants to listen can? I’ll take recs from people but write ups are a big part of this and I just don’t have time unfortunately

This is my write-up for the third and final album that @WolvesAreCircling182 assigned to me this session.

    Starset
    Transmissions
    2014

I had heard of Starset prior to this recommendation, but I had never heard any of their songs. I knew that they are from Ohio, so they already had that working in their favor (I'm from Ohio). Anyway, this is their debut album. This album is a little on the long side - 13 tracks that span an hour, but the hour went by fairly quickly.

Musically, this album falls somewhere in the modern rock/hard rock spectrum. The songs are pretty anthemic and oftentimes reminded me of Thirty Seconds To Mars. There are a couple songs with screaming, but the majority of the vocals are sung. Lyrically, there was a large focus on outer space.

Like most albums, I believe that this album would be most enjoyed by listening from start to finish. Nearly every song has an instrumental interlude at the end of it that transitions nicely into the next song. The interludes sound like they could be the score for any number of Hollywood sci-fi blockbusters.

My favorite songs on this album to date are Halo, My Demons, Let It Die, and Rise And Fall.

Overall, I think this was probably my favorite album that was assigned to me this week! Starset's second album was released in January of this year and I'll have to check that out when I get a chance.

Pretty sure Name Taken is the best "Yeah that was fun, but we're just not a band anymore cause life" band ever.

Like oh hey, here's what we did in our spare time in high school. It's a smash success and everybody likes it? Nice! Bye, going to college now.

Now I Know This World Isn’t Spinning Just For Me Prestigious

Okay time to post my thoughts on my 3 Recs courtesy of @bachna84

    Thursday- War All The Time

I have had numerous people, Bachna especially, get up in arms that I had never listened to Thursday and now I know why. This album is totally in my spectrum of comfort. I have no idea why I resisted listening to them until now. The opening track was instantly a great song, right in your face and lets you know you’re in for a ride. Things picked up again a couple tracks later for ‘Division St’, which is one of my favorites from the album. Musically the sound is great and very appealing to me. Vocally 9/10 times on this album I dug it, but there were a couple points I wish the pitch had been a bit different(this corrected on second listenings so perhaps it was just my unfamiliarity with the voice).’Signals Over The Air’ was my personal favorite from the album, though I also liked ‘This Song Brought To You By A Faling Bomb’ a Lot. The lyrics are very good in both those songs, as well as quite catchy. Over all this is a good album. Will be listening to this again.

    The Mezingers- After The Party

Holy shit this album is awesome. This may by far be my favorite of the Recs I’ve gotten in this club so far. I’d never listened to this band (this is becoming a theme each time I post), but I had heard them mentioned before. I was NOT expecting this type of classic punk rock, but the opening track literally was a kick to the teeth and made me want to get up off the couch and rock out in my living room. ‘Tellin Lies’ was a great way to open the album, and everything on this album from the guitars to the style of singing screams ‘punk rock show’. ‘Thick as Thieves’, ‘House On Fire’, ‘Your Wild Years’ these tracks and Tellin Lies could all battle for my favorite track on the album on any given moment. ‘The Bars’ was cool too, and really did make me think of closing time at a bar. I’d never have guessed this was a 2017 album but I am glad I found out about this album. 10/10 I will DEFINITLEY be listening to this album again. This will be a fun one to rock out in my car stereo on a drive, for sure.

At The Drive In- Relationship On Command
I’m almost afraid to write about this one. I’ve seen lots of people loving this album when I said it was one of the ones I got recommended. And I did like it! I just didn’t love it. I don’t know why to be honest, because it has some great things going on with this. There are some damn good songs too, like ‘Pattern Against Users’ and ‘Sleepwalk Capsules’ that I totally dig, and tonally it was solid. I just never quite got fully invested in either of my two listens to this album. I’m more Likely to be revisiting the other two albums over this one, even though it was good. It has the style I love and songs I probably will revisit, but probably not the whole album.
