I know exactly what youre referring to and I dont even understand why theyd put it in there, it's not like anyone at this point needs any more reason to get psyched enough about the film to go see it. I was so mad that they put that scene in there.

I’m assuming they either figured that it doesn’t matter much since people don’t know the context, or that there’s so many bigger surprises they aren’t showing that it isn’t a big deal. I would disagree with both of those but just guessing.

Lol just imagining that this movie is THAT good that they consider a scene like that no big deal. Holy shit it needs to be next thursday.

1 week from now I’ll be entering the third act. What a wonderful act it will be.

(For clarity, the third act of The Last Jedi, I missed posting at my start time by a couple hours, I know it’s the second film ha)

Just rewatched TFA and still really enjoy it.

Only knock I have is Kylo Ren. In the early films, Vader was so menacing and evil. Ren just didn't strike any real fear and even in the last fight with Rey, I just don't get how he was taken down so easily. Hope they transform him into something more fearful in TLJ.

    Cant wait til next week!!!!

I think that kylo is so conflicted it makes him weaker but heres the thing.. I expect SNOKE to be incredibly powerful and start viewing kylo as a disappointment, maybe he starts EYEING Rey and has no interest in Kylo anymore since Rey is more powerful, this would then push Kylo to the light side and maybe even grasp some of the new truths that Luke has learned. Rey is than swayed to the dark side after realizing that her father Emperor Palpatine had always planned this for her Destiny.. Kylo then must find a way to take down Snoke in order to SAVE rey from the dark side, he won't kill her bc he knows that she can turn back to the light side.

That bowcaster shot didn't do him any favors. I'm surprised it didn't kill him.

I don't think the point of Kylo Ren is to strike fear in the audience. He was supposed to be deeply conflicted and unsure of himself. There's been hints we're going to get some of the character's backstory in this movie, and I think that's likely to deepen his complexity substantially. Adam Driver is obviously a phenomenal actor, and I have a feeling this movie will give him a lot more to work with... I personally highly doubt Kylo is going to remain in the traditional villainous role throughout the trilogy, or even throughout TLJ.

Yup, I remember a lot of people having this “kylo is weak” argument and forgetting he just got shot with the bowcaster that definitely killed multiple stormtroopers earlier in the movie.

Also the whole "Kylo is weak" argument strikes me as if people just want a Vader knockoff. There's obviously a narrative reason why they made Kylo conflicted and unsure, and I think we'll see that decision pay off in this movie. Personally I thought the hints of depth we got to Kylo really excited me, and seeing his development is one of the things I'm most excited for in TLJ. I think they hinted at just enough in TFA to make the audience wonder WHY the son of Han and Leia is so tortured and conflicted, and how he fell to the Dark Side in the first place.

This is purely speculative and obviously if I'm right it's a potential spoiler, but I've been thinking for a while that the big reveal in TLJ will have less to do with Rey's parentage or Snoke's identity, AKA the obvious questions, and more what led to Kylo turning to the Dark Side, possibly something that happened between Luke and Kylo. I'm still convinced that his vaguely referenced turn to the Dark Side and massacre of Luke's other pupils did NOT go down as simply as we're led to believe.

Is this event tonight? Where is it at? The premiere is tomorrow so I would imagine they won't show THAT much right before...

It's next Thursday -- same day for opening night in the US, if you search Star Wars fan event on fandango it will come up. The tickets are more $$, but you get in earlier as well as a drink, popcorn, some collectible cards ha, and exclusive content.

Some people are speculating that it will be a behind the scenes featurette for Han Solo since something similar was shown for some Russian event recently, but I don't know. It would be a bit weird to have that before TLJ. Can't wait to find out ha

In an interview/story I read it mentioned that both Abrams and Johnson were on the same page as to who Reys parents were. Abrams told Daisy while filming TFA who her parents were, and left it up to Rian to develop that for this film. It seemed to all but confirm we will know who her parents are when we leave the theaters.

Kylo Ren is a fascinating character in a series that isn't necessarily known for pioneering interesting character archetypes. His struggle with being pulled to the light isn't something we've seen before in the franchise (at least not in the major films) and it's a refreshing take on a villain.

100%. I honestly think TFA nailed it with the new main characters, and Kylo is one of the ones who has the most promise to delevop in interesting ways going forward. So excited.

Yeah I think we will also. I’m just saying personally that if there’s some big “shocking” revelation (I’m still undecided on whether I think there will be one or not), it wouldn’t solely revolve around Rey’s parentage. I think there’s other things that would be more surprising.
