I'm in the boat who thinks they won't release a thing ever again.

If you really want to make this comparison, exactly 3 of Radiohead's albums have been on the chart longer than 26 weeks, and five have charted higher than 6 (and after that it drops straight to 21). Considering both Radiohead and Say Anything have been around longer than Brand New, I'd say it's more like SA<<<<<<<<<<<BN<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<Radiohead. But now we're just comparing keystrokes, and this is stupid.

Well this is completely irrelevant, not to mention entirely subjective to which circles you spend your time in. I personally have never even heard anyone talk about Hebrews at all.

No offense, but a release's success has literally nothing to do with your opinion.

Again, this would depend on how you define success. Say Anything, Manchester Orchestra, and Brand New have all done it, and I haven't heard any of them complain about it.

There was a flyer that said the demos would be released at some point. It made no mention of time, quality, format (other than cassette), price, or even where to buy them. They released almost a year later on a site the band created specifically for them, with about two weeks' notice. It was by all accounts a surprise release, at least in the sense that it goes against basically everything you're saying is required of a successful release. It was a surprise again later when they dropped the digital download on the internet for free without warning.

I doubt it either. I think we'll get it somewhere between September and December, and we'll probably hear new songs on their summer tour, maybe a few remarks about it being almost done, and then I think we'll probably get an official announcement within a month or two of its release date.

Also Mene is a bad example; they played the song live and then released the single like two days later. Same with the lyric booklets; talked about them from time to time over years, then one day just started sending them out with no mention of it at all.

Edit: I've made a huge mistake.

I think those signs need to be flipped if what I think you're thinking what I'm thinking you're thinking.

That's okay, we're just having an irrelevant conversation regarding the billboard top 200 chart peak positions.

They're meant to be arrows, not greater-than signs.

...or else I've made a huge mistake.

I was pointing out that brand new's billboard chart data is closer to Radiohead's than it is to Say Anything's, if you take into account how long each band has been around. BN's highest peak was 6 and their longest streak was 26 weeks. SA's peak was 17 and their best streak was 3. Radiohead's of course blows them both out of the water, but in the case of brand new, not by as much as you might think; Radiohead only (only?) has 5 records that peaked higher than 6 and three that ran longer than 26 weeks.

Edit: oh you mean the signs. Yeah, I think it's time for me to go to bed, lol

I remember there was so much talk while Brand New was gearing up to releasing Daisy. People talking about how it would sound more like Deja.

How surprised were you when Vices kicked into gear?

Literally thought I had downloaded the wrong album. Wasn't until "that forest burned" that I was convinced it was Jesse singing.

I got into Brand New way after Daisy was released (2013) and I enjoyed it a lot on first listen, and it might be because I absorbed all the albums at once. Vices still rips. I love that track.

    Someday I’ll find me Prestigious

I had only listened to At the Bottom a couple of times.

Went into the album knowing nothing but a couple of lines that @Jason Tate had been teasing in the Brand New thread.

Downloaded the leak in early September '09, it was maybe 2:00 AM before I could lay down and listen to it. My dorm room was pitch black, both of my roommates asleep. I hit play, and my head tilts as the lady sings the old timey Gospel music.

One minute and twenty five seconds in, I jumped, probably yelped rather loudly because both of my roommates thought I was dying. Thought for sure I'd been duped with a fake out leak. Then it hit me. I was listening to the new Brand New album, and I had no idea what the heck was happening.

Paraphrasing here cuz we don't have the old site anymore, so I can't double check, but she said she was excited for the new record, however, Your Favorite Weapon will always be her favorite from the band. Or something like that. I do remember her mentioning something about her praise for YFW.
