"the title track is a joke"

Mid listen, getting to this before work. Calmed me down from an anxiety/manic episode I was having... first listen is a lil jaded but I like it.
Gunna listen again after work hopefully my head will be a lil clearer by then.

But glad my fav local band is back :)

The production is fine. Not like worship or eyewtk have good production. This band is raw and messy and the production matches.

  8. shit this is awesome? like instantly all about this? am i weird?

to be fair, i guess the EPs were my favorite things they put out in the first place. W+T is cool but not as important to me as it is to some people itt and i barely ever picked up the first one

I like the production on both of those records *shrug*. They’ve never had perfect production, by any stretch of the imagination, but there’s a sense of clarity those records had that I’m missing here, tho I’m starting to be bothered less and less by it. I just would like to be able to make out what Beck is doing at points better than I can.
Totally agree. Sounds way better on speakers in general.

  12. why....are people not liking the title track? it's...just an interlude? and totally innocuous? confused

  13. Now, the next Long Island release we need is Crime In Stereo.

  14. oh lol yeah same

Fair point but becks been doing the disorienting wall of noise technique with his guitar on everything since worship so I'm used to it now and dig it in it's own way

My first listen was on my good headphones and that was my best. The bass lines in this are amazing, complimenting Beck while still standing out. Listening in the car was just as good, a bit louder though.

Title-track is cool, I actually kinda wish it were just a little longer! I do kinda agree that it’d be nice if it flowed into cut and run instead of fading out, but it’s not like it’s ruining the interlude or anything and I’m not gonna skip it.

I can agree with that to a point, as well. The approach has its merits, for sure. When I listen to this album, I envisioned that it’s like being played in a poorly-lit basement or cave or something lol. In that regard, I like it.

but the title track is literally just a joke. not a joke in that its a bad thing, but its just a weirder instrumental version of Junkies that may or may not be a reference to the fact that they dont have control of their older material due to record label issues. idk if id remove it from the tracklist per se but its kind of a novelty song of hearing it once and then not really bothering with it. it just makes me want to listen to Junkies lol

Truth be told I’m glad Junkies isn’t on this album because it’s been a top Glassjaw song for me for so long now, it would kind of take me out of the album
