Sami was always just a little small for the WC. The injuries made this trade a reality, but this would have happened eventually. Montour looks like he will fully develop into a much better RHD so the loss is of Vatanen is worth it.

    Rico :((((((((((((

Heartbreaking. What is Shero doing? You don’t trade the heart and soul of your team in mid-season when things are actually going well for once.

I know Vatanen is good but Rico will be impossible to replace in our locker room.

And what’s worse is this is going to take away a lot of minutes from Butcher

Just watched Ice Guardians and seeing those guys talk about Rypien, Boogaard and Belak made me really sad.

Sucks for the Oilers. Twitter says Brossoit is at an 881 in only four games played.

Also, I miss Cracknell but maybe now he can hang with Jordie, I dunno.

Henrique is very overrated. He isn't good defensively and is way too streaky offensively. He's due for a long-term contract soon which I did not want to give

I'll always love him for 2012 but it's clear he was one of the players Shero called out this summer for showing lack of effort last year

tell me about Vatanen defensively. I always knew him as a puck moving guy with more of an offensive side to his game

Not a bad deal for Anaheim. Those guys need a center badly right now with Kesler and Getzlaf out.

Yeah and he's too good to be a 3rd line center on your team as well. You guys did good by adding Vatanen.

Watching almost every game since he debuted 2013 he steadily became more reliable defensively. Boudreau usually partnered him with Stoner or a different stay at home guy, but Carlyle moved him around between Fowler and defensive minded guys.

He's good at penalty kill, but he will always be outsized in almost every situation. I personally don't think he's recovered fully from off season shoulder surgery. His skating hasn't really been there either since he's returned. Since his signing his deal last year I feel like he's regressed hence why Fowler is still here and going to be here going forward.
