Yeah unfortunately... it's even more unfortunate when I see people I know and respect using the same talking points on social media. Like you've said, the mental hoops people will jump through to try to either cast doubt on allegations, dismiss them, defend the accused, question the entire CONCEPT of the line between consent and sexual abuse, etc., just baffles me.

Made a student loan payment for close to $300, they charged my account $700. Gonna be a rough week.

 

Are they allowed to do that?

 

Probably not. I'm not going to have any proof that I didn't just hit autopay the full amount owed so I doubt they are going to help me out in any way. Everything is just pretty shitty in terms of finances right now, and I blame the government for a lot of reasons.

 

Haha. Yeah, I feel ya. I was recently able to pay off all of my student loans just before quitting both of the jobs I had, and not having those does make things so much easier to handle. Still hate how finances dictate so much of life.

 

Student loans are the worst. I wish I listened to my parents when I was in HS and they told me to take school more seriously and get scholarships. I still have over $10k in debt and my wife has around $24k yet.

 

I keep opening ap and remembering how much I hate the news section.

 

I have 45K in loans.

-joined the Army so the would pay part of them off, they fucked up my contract.
-went to re-enlist so I could get the program again, the guy didn't do the paperwork in time, and I couldn't get it.
-went to join the Reserves for the program, motherfucker let my clearance expire after I asked if I had to worry about it.

The only real plus, is that I can go back to school for free and the gov't will give me $2800 a month for housing. Gonna take advantage of that and maintain my full time job. It'll help a lot with the student loans.

 

I couldn't imagine having that much student loan debt. My boss is 37, has $56k in student loan debt as of a month ago and has them setup on a 30 yr payment plan. I'll have my house paid off before he pays off his student loans.

 

honestly I get kind of embarrassed talking about how much student debt I have. let's just say my minimum payments cost more than my rent. it sucks.

 

Mine is roughly the same as my rent.

I've thought about writing letters to Senators telling them my situation but I know none of them would even give me the time of day. lol

 

My loan payments are about 1/5 of my net salary. And I'm one of the fortunate ones.

 

Damn guys that's a lot in student loans. I'm in a similar situation as @Chris Yates but I guess I didn't go to one of the biggest schools so there's also that.

 

Yeah, I went to a state college down the road because a) it was close and b) it was cheaper

 

I had a full ride scholarship to a private college my first three years. I worked an internship one summer to be able to pay for a semester abroad. Working this internship triggered a clause in my full ride scholarship (that no one ever told me about) so that I lost it for my senior year. I got lucky in that it was only one year's worth of loans, but it still pisses me off I worked a summer job, bought a new laptop for school use and then gave the rest back to the school so I could study and then they took money from me. I wrote a letter to every person in financial aid/the board and they were all "Sorry, you broke the rule."

After I graduated, one took me aside and told me if I had made $200 less I wouldn't have lost it. I was like, "Shit, I'll write you a check for $200 right now."

 

Mine was exactly close but it was cheaper and smaller. That school has gotten way bigger now though, seems like it started to be a school everyone wanted to go to so I can imagine tuition has gone up dramatically.

 

I went to one of the worst schools in the country. I've since learned to research shit before jumping in.

 

Ha same here. I've heard my school has since become a "university" and has a full on athletics department and such. Weird thing is they closed the design department that I got my major in.
