My roomate just saw VII and he had no idea (Spoiler for TFA/ROTJ?) Luke and Leia were related. It was great to see his reaction lol. (He went against my recommendation and saw VII after having only seen A New Hope.)

 

There's only been the one released during MNF right?

 

there's been 1 new official trailer and like a ton of new TV spots.

 

Yeah I've got like 5 seconds of the one with Poe and then have turned away when Rey and Kylo have come up.

 

Tell them there are dozens of us! For real, it’s been tough doing it every time but I think it’s going to be special seeing everything fresh for the first time. Not often to get that experience

 

I believe her hearing Obi-Wan’s voice is a good indicator that she’s his daughter or granddaughter. I’m fine with being wrong though.

 

Once I made it to the Wednesday after trailer release I knew it'd be easy. There wasn't much talk after that and I just avoided any podcasts that had breakdowns or whatever.

These next two weeks will be rough when watching live TV which I rarely do outside of the NFL primetime games.

 

she can't be his daughter....the daughter of obi wan would be as old as luke and leia are. did nobody consider that?
i even think granddaughter is a stretch......do we know that obiwan ever even had kids or a family?

 

the battlefront theory is pretty interesting, but i agree with whoever said that i don't think they'd risk blowing what could be the franchises biggest secret since "luke i am your father" in a video game 2 months before the movie is released.

theres also no guarantee that we find out in this film (or really ever..)

 

As far as expectations go, didn't Lucasfilm watch Ep VIII and like it so much that they were like "Yep, here you go Rian, do whatever you want with the SW universe because we're that confident in you"

 

Rey was frozen in time. When they dropped her off on Jakku is when she was unfrozen. Duhhhhh

 

While you might be joking, based on Rians previous films dealing with time travel, I wouldn’t put it past them to do something like that...but it can’t be hokey or cheesy or anything

 

Battlefront plants the seed of her parentage, but doesn't technically reveal ahead of the movie. That DLC that was supposed to be included but is being held until mid-December on the other hand...

Idk. I think the theory is cool, especially if her parents are intended to be "nobodies" so we have the backstory, but agree that it's a little strange for it to come out prior to the movie.

Part of me wonders if this is just another red herring and the DLC would conclude the Rey parent theory isn't true.

Yea its not like I think it will be bad by any means. The whole new trilogy told me its going to be good and I have faith in Rian and everything weve seen.

Im just afraid to go in with any preconceived ideas that it will be a masterpiece and the best movie of all time, cause even its fucking amazing, that expectation will most likely adulterate the experience because it didnt live up to the threshold of where you thought and the 2 years of accumulated excitement.

 

is rey definitely the daughter they refer to in battlefront or are we all just assuming?

 

At this point is is only a theory.

 

The story group are big fans of red herrings in their non-movie canon stories (see: Rax is Snoke?). I don't expect anything to come of it, although Matt Martin of the Lucasfilm Story Group did suggest waiting till after watching The Last Jedi to play the expansion coming in December so who knows?

You could rent it at redbox and knock the campaign out in a night if you don't want to shell out sixty bucks. I think it's worth playing through.

Yep, definitely short.

I'd buy if you want to play online/play dlc, though I'm not sure how much dlc there will be after this December release.
