Childish Gambino for Record of the Year AND Album of the Year. Fuck yes.
Lorde for Album of the year : )
SZA for Best New Artist!
Portugal the Man get a Grammy nom - never thought I'd see the day
And that boring Weeknd album got snubbed for mostly everything....

Wow the Grammys kinda got it right this time.

 

I thought he might get in for Album, but no dice I guess. At least “If We Were Vampires” got nominated for something.

 

Kind of disappointing that rock/alternative and country were shut out of the major categories.

Getting my popcorn ready for when the Grammys inevitably pick Gambino over Kendrick

 

I'm actually cool with either Kendrick, Gambino or Lorde getting Album of the Year.
I think they'll finally give it to Kendrick this time, though.

 

Did Gambino’s album get nominated for best comedy album?

I do find it odd that Lorde got an Album of the Year nomination and then literally nothing else.
How is it a contender for the overall best album of the year but not the best in it's genre?

 

Wish Paramore got the nom for pop/group performance.

 

Wow every single alternative album is a weaker album in the context of that artist’s discography

Sleep Well Beast is fantastic.

 

I think that would have to have missed the cutoff date.

 

It was literally released the day before the cutoff date haha, Fergie Miley and Shania also released there's within weeks of each other, I can't blame their level of strategy

 

As always, some sneaky great noms in the little categories:

- Aimee Mann, Laura Marling and Cat Stevens (!!!) in the folk album category is an awesome trio
- Two noms for Isbell in Americana/roots music
- Blue and Lonesome showing up in the blues category
- Gregg Allman and Iron and Wine in the Americana category
- two Leonard Cohen noms
- Maren Morris nom
- American Teen in urban contemporary (and R&B song and best new artist)
- Rock album nom for The War on Drugs

 

Boycotting the Grammys because New Rules wasn’t nominated for best pop song

 

Shout out Four Tet remix of The xx getting a nom.

 

Must have missed Isbell. That's awesome. Same with Aimee Mann! Great album.

 

I'm happy about the Brent Cobb nomination. Mostly disappointed in the country/Americana/folk categories this year, but that one's a nice boost for an under-the-radar artist. Obviously happy about the Isbell/Stapleton stuff too, but those were more expected. Very surprised Miranda Lambert didn't get in for Country Album. I thought she had an outside shot at an Album of the Year nomination.
