This is fantastic.

 

The superman punch is a legit MMA finisher, I don't get the "unrealistic" complaint

 

I don't mind the Superman punch really. He just needs a power move as a finish like a powerbomb as stated previously.

 

I recently realized that we're in a period right now where there's going to be SO MANY "20th anniversary of" posts across the wrestling internet the next 4 years.

The 20th anniversary of the Curtain Call is 2 weeks away, 20th anniversary of Hall and Nash's WCW debut is about a month away, and the 20th anniversary of Hogan's turn and the formation of the NWO is a couple months away.

 

a problem with the superman punch is the way people take it/sell it. they usually just fall back like it's a trust fall or something

 

Yeah, over acted falls like that always ruin "knockout" moves for me. Realistic collapsing makes the moves look so much more devastating. See: Any sell of Itami's GTS in Japan.

 

AJ's sell of the Superman punch from this weekend is probably my favorite

 

Part of the problem is the way he performs it sometimes. He'll do it from a standing position where there is zero momentum. There is no way you can get any torque or power from those positions.

 

AJ looked like a million bucks in that match, I'd be surprised if he doesn't get his hands on the belt before next WM

 

HOLY SHIT DID HE JUST DIE? Seriously though, i guess i just don't like seeing the Superman punch be so overused and also be oversold, I feel he just needs to get rid of it or at least not use it as his signature move

 

Would a vice grip (don't know what to call it) fit Roman? Just squeeze the soul out of his opponents the way Brock did to Hogan

This will be my one very temporary appearance in here but it's crazy to see this thread have at least twice the posts of any other sports forum thread. Had no idea AP/Chorus people were that into wrestling

 

Extreme Rules will basically be Payback 2.0 but this card looks promising:

AJ v Reigns (Extreme Rules match)
Charlotte v Natalya (Submission match)
Cesaro, Miz, Sami, KO (Fatal-Four Way match)
New Day v Vaudevillians
Rusev v Kalisto
Jericho v Ambrose (Stipulation?)

I'm into everything except the submission match. Then you have Baron v Dolph, Usos v Gallows/Anderson, Becky Lynch v Emma as potential add-ons or pre-show matches.

 

It's still real to me dammit.

I think Gotch knows he threw him too hard. The main thing was that he tried to pick him up afterwards, but even that, your adrenaline is pumping for this PPV debut for you guys against (presumably) friends from NXT. It's a lot going on.

 

I don't know what type of powerbomb Reigns could do that would be more interesting than the spear. Maybe the jackknife, that was always cool.

But yeah, I'm sure you could come up with something. The spear really isn't a great finisher when you think about it.

I mostly just dealt with Vince on it. That was Vince’s concept, I guess. I thought it was pretty flat, to be honest. I told him that. Initially the idea was that, at the end, I was just going to stand with my hands on my hips or something in the middle of the aisle way and block Ric Flair from leaving the ring. I remember going, “That’s pretty lame.” I just said, “I think we can do better than that.”

It was my suggestion that I could give Ric a couple shots, knock him down and put him in the Sharpshooter. Maybe Nattie could do a Sharpshooter at the same time and we could end on that note. So, I’ll take full credit for the better pop of the match. As far as the ending, I’ll say now that I thought it was pretty flat and unoriginal. Kind of, been done a lot.
