obviously, but I was referring to the backlash from fans that led to their initial statement, which is 100% bullshit

The Witcher 3 is my favorite game of all time. I didn't play the first 2 before either but it does a great job of setting up a story that you don't feel too confused/lost without playing the others first.

This game is absolutely massive and beautiful, the combat is absolutely fantastic. Every quest is so fleshed out and engaging even the side quests. Gwent is always a good time. All your choices/actions in quests have an effect on the story. Highly recommended.

The story gripped me so much I bought all the books on amazon.

It stands alone just fine, the story itself isn't particularly reliant on the previous games even if they do sort of set the stage and glancing at the character glossaries will be enough to get a feel for what you've missed in that regard. Hell, I'd argue the books are more valuable to 3 than the previous two games as two of the most major characters in the game had only appeared in the book series and not the games yet. The gameplay is fine - it's janky, the combat is serviceable but nothing mind-blowing but there's a TON of content (I probably spent around 100 hours in the base game and the expansions are another 30+ easy) and you will very easily get sucked into the game and caught up in the many wonderful side stories and lively world. DO IT.

I continued it yesterday and I feel even better about it than I did initially. I love the side quests so much. Reminds me of how I felt playing horizon and Skyrim.

I was watching some vids and the combat looks very Assassins Creed. It’s not brainless counter spam is it? As long as it’s at least “good” then I can deal with that

Got one of them working, but the other one still won’t turn on. I have no explanation for that one lol

No idea why the one I got working wouldn’t originally turn on, but I realized when I opened up the back to make sure the batteries didn’t dislodge, I took them out then put them back in the wrong way. So my guess is the batteries did get dislodged when I bumped it, and then it continued to not work because I put them back in the wrong way. Was hoping that would be the problem with the other one which is my blue one but nope :(

I have a 1080p TV (though one from a time when they still made 1080p TVs that made the color black look actually pretty damn black), but AC Origins on the One X still looks absolutely incredible. The amount of detail is crazy. Also, no jaggies!

It's good, I wouldn't exactly call it AC combat but it's not entirely dissimilar with some more tools in your arsenal. You CAN get by primarily using counters/dodging but I was never as reactionary as I was in an AC game. I liked fucking around with the magic/Signs.

It's pretty similar. I think there's a little more to it than that but I never got that deep into it, I wasn't a fan of the combat or most of the gameplay honestly.

It’s “cool” (LOL) to hate on BF2 but it’s actually pretty damn fun. I literally can’t handle all these people on the internet complain about “pay to win”. Dumbest shit I’ve seen in a while.

I think there are other factors involved when building/upgrading a PC. If you want something that performs exactly like a console, its possible to do it for under $300 with some scavenging--I only spent $175 on upgrading an old Dell that was being tossed out of an office. Not everyone is going to put that kind of effort into building something though, so if someone were to just buy all the parts at market price, then it'll be the same as buying a console. At that point, its just a matter of what OS one prefers.

You don't need to put in anymore money into that initial PC to keep up with the current generation of games though, unless you are looking to do more than just play games, or want something that can outperform a console. Some people want to do live streaming, or graphic design, video editing, ect. I don't think its a replacement for consoles at all; there's a lot of great exclusives out there, and most people's social circles are console only. My PC has worked as a nice buffer as I waited for the PS4 price to drop (finally getting one this holiday).
