I really don't understand this. Gamers have been wanting a good samurai game, they decide to make one, and it's a bad thing? I'd rather them listen to what people are requesting.

The whole "take a style and just add critic bait" comment is weird to me too. They improved upon a formula, and made a fantastic game, and that's bad?

 

Haha. I didn't recall anyone disliking it at the time. Maybe it is because I was basically playing it 24/7 for a week and went dark.

I always found it funny how similar Horizon was to BotW, but people had very different feelings about both game. I think I burnt myself out so much on Horizon that I just couldn't get into Zelda.

 

How long until Breath Of The Wild gets haters? Lol

 

It’s usually not a good idea to criticize a game during people’s honeymoon period with it, you’ll just get labeled a contrarian or a hater. Especially when it’s a high profile exclusive.

I don't hate BOTW, but I do have more criticisms of it then most I think. It's still a wonderful game though

 

I don't like Breath of the Wild and haven't since day one. A lack of narrative took me out of the game entirely.

 

It's okay not to like highly praised games. It's going to be ok, I promise.

I did not judge the process, I just personally find the results, although perfectly executed, to be very calculated and creatively boring. That's why I started my post with "it's all a matter of taste". What I don't understand is that it is hardly ever adressed by critics but that's another story.

Of course Microsoft has barely any big (as opposed so small games which have been pretty strong) series left now that IPs like Fable seem to be burried, but at least Gears, Halo and Forza, although also creatively uninteresting, are competitive/co-op games that are on top of their respective genres in terms of gameplay. That's why I'm primarily an Xbox gamer (after Nintendo that is).

I'm not very enthusiastic about Microsoft or Sony though in terms of software. I miss the 360.

 

This has been a thing on social media, usually in the context of "Horizon is better than Zelda", so it's obviously so absurd that I can be ignored easily ;D

Thoughts on the whole "Nier is the best game of the year" concept?

 

I have yet to play it but it's getting a lot of buzz on the internet. Twitter especially.

 

I feel like I can confidently put Nier in my top 3 games of all time

I still have to play HZD. I watched my girlfriend play it and it looked like something I would definitely be into though

 

almost tied with Zelda for me. but BOTW still eeks it out. But yeah, fucking close.

Yeah Nier's probably top 10 of all time for me.

Also I think Horizon looks fantastic, I really enjoy the design of the world and want to finish the story but I was not enjoying playing it, especially straight after Zelda.

 

Yeah Zelda did a number on those games. I played the Witcher 3 DLC right after Zelda and I felt like I was wearing a straight jacket.
