I'll check those out. I'm just pretty pumped to play something next week when I get a bunch of days off from work. Also slowly getting pumped for the new movie so this will throw me back into the Star Wars hype cycle.

 

i played for like 40 mins. crazy random fps drops. my rig meets more than the min req so this is just dumb.

 

Man, this really hurts to read as a female gamer who really enjoyed horizon and loved aloy's character. I hope he enjoys tomb raider. Then he'll see that it's about the game, regardless of the gender of the protagonist.

may i ask what criteria led you to classify horizon as a "piece of shit"

 

i hate playing as a girl

 

no, it's just a bog standard open world game with mediocre art-direction, needlessly dragged out fights and clumsy combat. it's mechanically uninteresting and gets stale really quickly.

i also really disliked the graphics, it looked more like a diorama than an actual place.

 

It's just an Ubisoft open world game clone with a thick layer of nerd bait

 

I'll say this though, the story was really interesting and captivating.

 

Yeah so you'd have to tell him that haha. But he's the one with an actual problem with the gender, that's my point.

I've spent a lot of my time playing MOBAs (mostly play the female characters) and RPGs (where you can create a character so I can play as a female), and I played through the whole FFXIII trilogy, most tomb raiders, mirror's edge games, horizon, life is strange, ah I'm forgetting now. Other final fantasy games with playable female characters like type 0. Or simulation games where there aren't even protags. Yeah. Weirdly I think I've actually spent a lot of my time playing as a woman because of my varied taste, I enjoy most genres lol

 

That's actually how I felt about infamous second son, esp with the towers and restricted zones lol

 

I have a hard time playing as a man because I find most men really boring and being a really boring man in real life isn’t helping matters haha

 

Often times if I can make a character I play as a woman. I'm already a guy irl so I like the extra "escapism".

 

That game is an affront to nature. If you enjoy it... y’fanboy.

 

I never really project/relate to a protagonist, story is usually like 10% of my enjoyment of a game. There are exceptions, but I'd rather play a storyless game with fantastic mechanics like Breath of the Wild over a more linear game with a good story.

 

I play mainly for stories, probably why I enjoy so many RPG games. Story and characters are some of the most important parts of games I play. Gameplay is obviously very important, but I can deal with it not being perfect if the story is incredible

 

I don't want to take a shot at anyone that likes Sony's games because it's all a matter of taste but I think most of their games are a variation of "take a formula and cover it with nerd and/or critic bait". They're kind of like Netflix. I like Gravity Rush and have liked some others but usually I'm not a fan, but that's just me. I'm looking forward to that Samurai game but that is also clearly one of these instances, "Hey these weebs on the internet keep asking for AC Japan so let's make it".

They get great third party exclusives though.

Can't understand why anyone would dislike Horizon

I'm surprised it took 6 months for the first Horizon haters to come out of the woodwork.

 

Not everyone likes the highly applauded and praised games. Case in point: Bioshock (PLEASE don't go down this rabbit hole people)
