Black Friday Wishlist: Rise of the Tomb Raider, The Witcher 3, Mass Effect: Andromeda, Fallout 4, Dragon Age: Inquisition, Mirror's Edge: Catalyst, Life is Strange: Before the Storm, Injustice 2, GTAV, Inside

Before the Storm and Injustice 2 are a bit too recent for me to expect a good deal on, but I feel like I've waited long enough for Inquisition to go on sale, for example.

I know people like me waiting for sales is what's bringing the industry down, but guys, I haven't had a job until like a month ago and it doesn't even pay that well.

 

I just tuned into a Battlefront 2 campaign stream in what I thought was the middle of the game, and watched a pretty cool level and cutscene expecting to see more but then credits started rolling...

So I know that unless context greatly improves it the ending is awful and abrupt

I'm going to wait for a sale.

 

Re Battlefront, is it true that, due to the immense backlash and subsequent numerous refunds, EA disabled the refund option for digital purchases of the game?

Because if so, then that’s in serious contention for funniest thing I have ever heard.

 

I have conflicting feelings

 

I started Horizon Zero Dawn last night. Wow...game is spectacular so far.

 

It's not that simple anyway. It's your job to be a smart consumer and that's what you're doing. Publishers decided to enter this downward spiral rather than fighting it. Nintendo games almost never go on sale (or at least not significantly) and they sell regardless.

 

Played maybe 2 hours of Horizon, will be in top 5 I think. Man, what a game...

Although - in cutscenes, the character models aren't...that impressive? Game is gorgeous though overall.

 

For the life of me, I don’t understand people defending EA, criticizing the backlash as “hysterical,” or saying things like “they’re a business and they need to make money, leave them alone.” If you care at all about games as an art form or a hobby or whatever, what they’ve done is a slap in the face and is frankly dangerous to the continued survival of the industry. The reaction has been entirely appropriate, in my opinion. I’m mostly just glad people are finally speaking up and not taking this garbage without a fight anymore. Now hopefully not as many people are buying the game so it isn’t a success anyway.

 

I will never for the life of me understand people siding with corporations. EA is only as scummy as we let them get away with. I just hope that our histrionics align with the sales numbers.

They're doing the wrong thing, but they can't continue on the old way either. That's not defending anyone, that's just facing the facts of the industry.

 

i'm buying battlefront because it's pretty and fun. so long as there's matchmaking that puts the crazy grinders together so i can play a few casual games a week, idgaf

these tactics don't work on everyone. i am a completionist, but i draw the line at contained single player experiences. EA can claim that they're doing this so buyers get more mileage out of the game, but they've looped right around to the opposite end of the spectrum for me: i see this, and i'm less inclined to put my main focus on the game. i'll unlock a few of my favorite heroes and just play casually.
